A New Class Has Joined the Kaufman ISD Hall of Fame๐
On September 11, we proudly inducted four outstanding individuals and one history-making team into the Kaufman ISD Hall of Fame Class of 2026. Their accomplishments, leadership, perseverance, and Lion pride have left a lasting legacy in Kaufman ISD.
Jasmine Hughey โ Class of 2007
Jasmine Hughey was truly in a class of her own, earning accolades in nearly every sport she competed in, including volleyball, basketball, track, and softball. Her remarkable athletic career included winning a state championship in shot put.
Following her time at Kaufman, Jasmine continued her athletic career on a full scholarship at Southeastern Oklahoma State University. Her versatility, determination, and success represent the very best of what it means to be a Kaufman Lion.
David Reyes โ Class of 2007
David Reyes graduated in the top 10% of his class while competing in track, cross country, and soccer.
On the soccer field, David earned the Texas UIL Golden Boot Champion Award, recording an incredible 36 district goals and 52 total goals. He continued his athletic career at Ouachita Baptist University.
Today, David continues to make an impact at Kaufman ISD, serving as one of our very own Assistant Principals. His journey from student-athlete to campus leader is a wonderful example of what it means to give back to the community that helped shape you.
Carlus McBride โ Class of 1994
Carlus McBride competed in football, track, and powerlifting during his time at Kaufman. He qualified for the state powerlifting meet in 1993 and returned the following year to capture the state championship in the 148-pound class.
Carlus carried his passion for athletics into a career as a football and powerlifting coach. As a coach, he helped develop 12 regional champions and three state champions, passing along the determination and work ethic that defined his own athletic career.
Coach Patsy Davis โ Volleyball Coach, 1989โ2000
Coach Patsy Davis is a legendary figure at Kaufman High School whose influence left an enduring mark on generations of students and athletes.
During her years leading the Lady Lions volleyball program, Coach Davis built a tradition of excellence. Her 1993โ94 Lady Lions team made an unforgettable run to the state semifinals, creating memories and a legacy that remain an important part of Kaufman athletics.
Her impact reaches far beyond wins and losses. The lessons, relationships, and Lion pride she instilled in her athletes continue to live on today.
1956 Pyle High School Football Team
The 1956 Pyle High School Football Team holds a historic place not only in Kaufman's story but in Texas high school football history.
During an era of racial segregation, this remarkable group of young men persevered and earned their way to the 1A State Championship game in Sealy, Austin County. The final scoreboard read 19โ18, but a scoreboard could never fully measure what this team accomplished.
Their courage, determination, and perseverance created a legacy that connects our past directly to our future.
Their story reminds us that being a winner is not always determined by what the scoreboard says. Sometimes, it is determined by the heart you show, the obstacles you overcome, and the legacy you leave behind.
That is the Heart of a Lion.
We persevere. We rise. We come back stronger. And we never forget the Lions who paved the way before us.
Congratulations to the Kaufman ISD Hall of Fame Class of 2026. Your legacy will continue to inspire generations of Lions to come.
