Let Freedom Ring! Celebrating Freedom Day! On June 19, 1865 slavery ended in Texas more than two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued. US troops were sent to Texas to liberate the 250,000 slaves in Texas. Texas is the first state to recognize June 19th as a legal holiday. In 2021 Juneteenth became a national holiday.❤️
