Most of us have experienced how difficult the topic of human sexuality can be--especially in our churches. That’s precisely part of our problem.

I believe that is precisely where we should have the conversation. Most of us have experienced how difficult the topic of human sexuality can be. We find it especially difficult to talk about it in our churches. However, I believe that is precisely where we should have the conversation. Moreover, talking about human sexuality should not be reserved for the pre-pubescent teenager. We only talk abou

Richard Rohr Daily Meditation: Purity Is Not Holiness 05/10/2023

Thoughts on purity from Fr. Richard Rohr:

Richard Rohr Daily Meditation: Purity Is Not Holiness Our purity systems, even those established with the best of intentions, do not make us holy. They only create insiders and outsiders. They are mechanisms for delivering our drug of choice: self-righteousness, as juice from the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil runs down our chins. And....

Last week at Perkins Summit for Faith and Learning, I facilitated a workshop “Moving Toward Healing Through a Holistic Approach to Human S*xuality.” 12 people from throughout Texas and Arkansas considered their own experiences and shared with one another. We laughed and cried. We learned. We grew together, not apart.

Talking about s*xuality doesn’t have to be about “right” and “wrong.” Sometimes, it’s just about giving room and validating others experiences.

This workshop can be done with any group. DM me and we can talk about how it might help your church or organization!

Teaching Wonderfully Made brings me such joy. I spent this weekend with a group of young women 10-13 years old, learning about puberty, anatomy, biology, boundaries, relationship, intimacy, and how to make healthy life choices based on a solid biblical foundation.

We have a lot of work to do to reverse the damage that toxic purity culture has caused in our society. But this weekend’s list of ”things we learned” makes me think me might just stand a chance.

Keep my body healthy
Accept changes to my body
Respect privacy
Respect my value
S*x and s*xuality is not bad!
It is normal to think about s*x
Respect myself
Appreciate my body
Respect other opinions
All boundaries are important and we should respect them

Part TWO of the podcast with Joy Dister-Dominguez and The Caring Congregation dropped today! Thanks for listening!

Human S*xuality, Part Two - Season 4, Episode 7

S*xuality is part of who God created us to be; so why do have a hard time discussing it with our youth? Why does the church shy away from talking about s*x? Join Rev. Joy Dister-Dominguez and Rev. Heather Gottas Moore as they discuss the history of human s*xuality and the importance of conversations with young persons surrounding holistic holiness. This is part two of a two part episode.
