Congratulations to St. Mark's School of Texas (12-3) for their third-place finish at PACE's National Scholastic Championship. Greenhill (7-6) also reached the Top 15 of the 80-team field.

Congratulations to Greenhill (11-4) for their fifth-place finish at HSNCT, and to all our other competitors.
Strake Jesuit A (9-5) and TAG Magnet (9-4) finished tied for 12th;
Kinkaid (9-4), St. Mark's A (9-3) and Wakeland (8-5) finished tied for 19th;
The group finishing tied for 49th included Cinco Ranch (7-4), Coppell (6-5), Seven Lakes (5-5), TAMS (6-5) and Tompkins (6-5).
Taylor (6-4) and St. John's (5-5) finished tied for 73rd.

We'd like to recognize our two Top 15 finishers at MSNCT, Greenhill A (tied for 7th) and Beckendorff B (tied for 10th). TH Rogers A, TH Rogers B and St. John's A tied for 25th at the national competition, while Greenhill B, Cistercian A and Village A tied for 37th.

The story of the Fall 2019 semester for high school quiz bowl in North Texas has been Cistercian (pictured) beating St. Mark's in the first two tournament finals, both tightly contested. The two championship-match losses are St. Mark's A's lone losses in Metroplex play, while Cistercian A has suffered one defeat in Texas, by 10 to Greenhill A, and one in Louisiana, to Caddo Magnet, who visited Dallas on Saturday and reached the semifinals before losing... to Cistercian.

In the two high school events this season, Cistercian, Greenhill and Plano West have each qualified two teams for HSNCT. TAG Magnet has a semifinal and a quarterfinal appearance, while Parish Episcopal joins St. Mark's as having qualified one team for nationals.

The Texas all-star team of William Golden, Raúl Passement, Evan Hochstein and Sean Doyle took third place at the IQBT NASAT this weekend in Lexington, Kentucky with a 12-4 overall record.

Texas won the third-place match 330-205 over New Jersey. Illinois won its fourth straight title at the event, defeating Ohio in a one-match final.

William Golden finished second among all players in the 23-team event in preliminary individual scoring.

Congratulations to James E. Taylor and their senior leader William Golden, who wrapped up his high school quiz bowl career leading his team to a second place finish at the 2019 PACE NSC event held in Reston, Virginia. Taylor lost the second match of a disadvantaged final to defending champion Thomas Jefferson (Arlington, Virginia). Taylor handed TJ its only loss of the weekend, finishing 16-3 for the tournament.

Other participating Texas teams included LASA (12th), Strake Jesuit A (16th), St. John’s (27th), Carnegie Vanguard (33rd), and Strake Jesuit B (56th).

Keep in mind, some teams will play their seven Saturday matches in the morning, while others will play in the afternoon.
