At 12:25 PM at Lake Highlands Cafe, Mike Viscusi, owner of Simple Gaijin, officially retired from working in the United States.

My other business, North Texas Provisions, a proud working partner of Pepperidge Farm, has officially come to a close.

Now, my full focus turns toward building Simple Gaijin in Japan and getting back to Japan later this year once my spouse visa is approved by Japanese immigration.

I am genuinely thankful for my time working alongside Pepperidge Farm and extend my warmest wishes to them and their parent company, The Campbell’s Company, moving forward.

I also want to thank my wife, Ayaka, for putting up with all the early mornings, bad weather drives, crazy people, and all the chaos that comes with operating a small business. Having her beside me in the trenches every day made the job a little easier to carry.
