๐ฝ Today's tip of the week is just in time for the summer corn season.
If you are preparing fresh corn in a recipe and need it off the cob here is a simple mess-free hack you'll use again and again:
1. Husk the corn
2. Place end of the cob in the hole of a bundt pan
3. Slice kernels off the cob from top to bottom.
4. Kernels fall into cavity of the pan.
5. Use as needed in your favorite recipe.

Summer heat is upon us and with it brings so many delicious ways to beat the heat!
We love ice cream and all the frozen summer treats you can find but we also love to put our healthy spin on it for when we make our own versions at home. Our favorite alternatives are coconut milk, avocado or banana based.
These are a few ingredients we use in our class recipes to make fresh ice cream that is dairy, preservative or additive free! Have you ever made ice cream at home? What's your favorite flavor combo?

Is grilling on your summer bucket list? It's on our meal list year round but now is really the time to get outside and enjoy the flavors of the season. โ๏ธ
Make skewers with a pattern of bite sized chicken breast (or your protein of choice), large diced bell peppers , onion and summer squash, marinate with some simple Italian seasoning, oil and vinegar and then grill until the protein is cooked through.
Plate over a whole grain like rice or couscous and dinner is done. Easy-Peasy, Lemon -Squeezy ๐คค

Last week we shared an infographic of what is in season for May, and for the rest of this month we'll be focusing on a couple of our favorites. First up: Strawberries
We love, love, love strawberries for their versatility! They add boosts of sweet nutrition to many of our recipes. Here are some ways we enjoy them:
๐ In smoothies
๐ As layers in yogurt parfaits
๐Topping for breakfast items like pancakes or waffles
๐ On salads with grilled chicken and a balsamic dressing
What strawberry recipe is your favorite?

Weather is starting to warm up all over the country and it is a great time to explore your locally available produce. May is the start of Farmer's Market season in cooler climates so be sure to get out to your local market and see what they have ready to try. ๐จโ๐พ
We love the Shop Local movement (it's part of the Healthy Hands Food Philosophy) and now is the season to put it in practice. Pictured are a few items that are in season now. Which one is your favorite?
Hands we love, love, love Strawberries โบ๏ธ

It's national gardening day! ๐จโ๐พ
We love gardening here at HHC and truly enjoy talking with our students about exploring where our food comes from. We have two classes dedicated to gardening - our Grow it in a Garden preschool class and Growing and Cooking with Herbs for our HHC Kids. We offer even more garden content in our regular classes. ๐ค
These are wonderful ways to get kids learning where our food comes from and the types of foods that grow in the ground. Reach out to your favorite HHC instructor to learn more about these and all our class types.

Are you spending the weekend baking ๐งโ๐ณ and realize there's no eggs in the fridge? Don't fret!
While eggs provide a few different functions when baking including binding, leavening, moisture and flavor/texture, these can be achieved with alternatives. Here are a few common ingredients we use in our recipes when converting a recipe to vegan, or when we don't have eggs on hand and get that last minute urge to bake.
๐ Applesauce
๐ Mashed Banana
Ground Flaxseed
Chia Seeds
Silken Tofu
Greek Yogurt
Have you baked with any other these before? What did you notice about the final product?

Pasta night, every night? Sign us up! ๐คค
One of the many reasons noodles are popular worldwide is for their ease in preparation and speed from the box to the table. We love the idea that they are budget friendly too!
Just like we enjoy personalized family meals like ๐ฎ or ๐, we love the idea of creating a pasta bar for friends and family with all types of noodles (bite sized and twirlable varieties). Make enough pasta for the group and then put out a variety of sauces and toppings. Don't forget the veggies! ๐ฅฆ๐ถ๐
Everyone can make their own and it's a win-win for the host and for the guests!
Have a young chef joining the party? Take them to the store with you and let them choose whichever variety piques their interest. ๐ง
