Parenthood is messy and challenging and crazy and sleepless and giving and believable beautiful." - Paper Heart Family

Being unwell while parenting is no joke. When your body is asking for rest, but the little ones still need attention, it can feel overwhelming. Here are a few tips that have helped me get through those tough days:

Rest when possible – Even if it’s just a few minutes. A little downtime can make a big difference. Think about having everyone stay in their pjs and snuggle under duvets to watch a favourite film.
Keep it simple – Don’t feel pressured to do it all. Frozen meals, quick snacks, and relaxing activities can still make for a good day.
Ask for help – Whether it's a partner, friend, or family member, it's okay to lean on others when you're not feeling 100%.
Embrace the messy moments – Perfection isn’t the goal right now. Your health is, and your little ones will understand more than you think. You can always make a game of getting your little ones to put their toys away!
Parenting while unwell is tough, but remember—you’re doing great, even on the days it doesn’t feel like it."

Parent Coaching Tip: untouched Snow & a Clean Page

Today I woke up to snow that was pristine and untouched and it got me thinking. Sometimes we get locked into replicating unhelpful patterns in our relationship with our children. So try imagining every day with your child like fresh, untouched snow or a blank page— full of new opportunities and potential. Every moment is a chance to begin again, to approach challenges with a fresh perspective and fill your interactions with patience, love, and growth. The key is consistency, not perfection. Let each new day be an invitation to write a positive story together. Need help doing this then reach out to me at The Parenting Knot and let’s see how we can work together.

With the holiday season almost upon us it is really important that we remember to give ourselves the gift of ‘me time’. As a parent, it’s easy to put your own needs last, but remember, taking care of you is just as important as caring for your children. When you prioritize self-care, you're more patient, energized, and present.

✨ Try this: Take 10 minutes each day for something that nourishes you—whether it's a quiet cup of tea, a walk outside, reading a book or a quick mindfulness exercise.

It's not selfish to recharge; it's necessary for being the best parent you can be! Want to learn more contact me at The Parenting Knot

Parenting Tip: Managing Change with Your Kids

With the new year fast approaching it made me think about change and how it impacts us all. Change can be especially challenging for children, but how you handle it can make a big difference. Whether it’s a move, a new school, or a shift in routine, here are some tips to help your kids navigate change with confidence:

Communicate Early: Let your children know about the change ahead of time. Explain what will happen, why it’s happening, and how it might affect them.
Provide Reassurance: Acknowledge their feelings and reassure them that it’s okay to be upset or uncertain. Your support and calm presence will help them feel secure.
Involve Them in the Process: Where possible, let your kids be part of the decision-making or preparation. This could mean packing boxes together during a move or choosing new supplies for school.
Maintain Familiar Routines: Keep consistent routines in place to give your child a sense of stability amidst the change.
Stay Positive: Focus on the positive aspects of the change and help your child see new opportunities or experiences ahead.
Every child reacts to change differently, so patience and understanding go a long way in helping them adapt.

Rainy Day Parenting Ideas: Turn Indoor Time into Quality Time! 🌧️

When it's raining, it might feel like you’re stuck inside with the kids—but this is the perfect opportunity to engage in creative, educational, and fun activities together! Here are some ideas to make the most of your day:

Create an art studio, cuddle up together and read your favourite books, hold a dance party, play board games, create a scavenger hunt, have a sitting room picnic, bake your favourite treats, put on your wellies go outside and jump in puddles and make some popcorn and watch a movie. The list is endless so get creative. Worried that someone might miss out on doing their favourite thing then get everyone to write down an activity, fold it up and put it in a jar. Take turns to pull out an activity.

Remember, rainy days are a chance to bond with your child and explore new activities together. With a little creativity, they can become some of your most memorable moments! 🌈💕

As parents, it's easy to get lost in the day-to-day challenges of parenting our children and miss the bigger picture of the richness they bring to our lives. Sometimes, we’re so focused on the 'trees'—the little struggles—that we forget to step back and see the 'forest.' Parent coaching can help you get a fresh perspective, find balance and clarity, help you reconnect with your values to enable you to guide and build stronger connections with your children. Let’s make parenting a journey, not just a to-do list. So why not reach out today The Parenting Knot to get started.

Parent Coaching Theme: The Power of Stillness and Presence
The life of a parent seems to be one of busyness. Yet there is much we can learn from the value of pausing. The line "And she stopped..." emphasizes the importance of stopping in our busy lives. As parents, it's easy to get caught up in the constant demands of family, work, and responsibilities. I encourage you to model for your children the importance of taking intentional pauses. I used to have a ‘time out stair’ that we could all sit on if we needed to take a pause. I suggest daily or weekly moments when everyone stops, whether it’s for a family walk in nature, a moment of silence, or even a brief family meditation.

Coaching Tip: Create small rituals where you “pause” either together or individually on a regular basis. If you need a helping hand in creating these rituals then feel free to reach out to me at The Parenting Knot

The Passengers: Building a Support Network
Coaching Tip:
Today I’m taking the train on my own but am completely surrounded by others and it got me thinking about parenting. Parenting is not a solitary journey. Just as a train carries many passengers, it’s essential to surround yourself with a support network—family, friends, or parenting groups. Don’t be afraid to ask for help and lean on others.
Example: "Who are the 'passengers' on your parenting journey? Are you tapping into the support systems around you to offer both guidance and encouragement?"
