On March 16, UT Southwestern recognized Racheal King, B.S.N., RN, with the prestigious DAISY Award. Racheal is an ambulatory nurse in the Internal Medicine Subspecialties clinic. Her nomination read:

“Racheal went above and beyond for a patient of mine. The patient required off label therapy and had been struggling with his/her condition for years without relief. We submitted a prior auth that was immediately declined without an option for an appeal. Racheal refused to give up in order to help this patient. She submitted documentation, researched the therapy and its use for the condition, and submitted this documentation without question. This medication that was denied was approved due to her hard work. She advocated for this patient without being asked and exceeded expectations, which ultimately helped this patient to receive the treatment they deserved. I, a physician, have very rarely seen this dedication and feel she is well deserved of this honor.”

Thank you, Racheal, for your dedication and for advocating for our patients here at UT Southwestern!
