The most common mood disorder related to epilepsy is depression.
You may have a mood disorder if you frequently feel depressed, anxious, irritable, or have feelings of fear/panic.
If severe feelings of depression and irritability last for a prolonged period of time, you may need to consult with your doctor.

Sleep deprivation is a common trigger of seizures. Studies show that sleep deprivation can intensify and elongate seizures. Getting at least 8 hours of sleep is essential to reduce seizure occurrence and is vital for physical/mental health.

Call 911 in the following situations:
1. If the seizure happened in the water (bathtub, pool, lake, etc.)
2. If the seizure patient is pregnant
3. If this is a first-ever seizure for the patient.
4. If the seizure keeps repeating within a few minutes of another seizure
5 . If the seizure lasts longer than 5 minutes.
6. If there is any injury or you suspect choking/breathing difficulties after the convulsions have stopped.

NOT ALL SEIZURES ARE TRIGGERED BY THE SAME THINGS. For example, only specific seizures are triggered by flashing lights. It's essential to identify and understand your triggers. Try to avoid them if possible. Contact us for more information :)
