Engage Dallas connects SMU students with community organizations in South and West Dallas through meaningful summer internships. By supporting on giving day, donors help fund paid internships for SMU students while strengthening local nonprofits and community initiatives.

Your gift creates real-world learning opportunities for Mustangs while investing directly in the Dallas communities we partner with.

This weekend Engage Dallas brought student volunteers to SIX of our amazing community partners! Students participated in a wide variety of opportunities such as assisting in an ESL class, facilitating activities at a homeless shelter, gardening, and sorting donations. These events were in partnership with our Commons as well as the Office of Gen Ed’s Common Curriculum Reading program.

We’ve been busy over here in Engage Dallas! On Nov 5-6 we hosted the annual Place-Based Community Engagement symposium, a gathering of SMU students, staff, and faculty, as well as community partners & leaders.
This past weekend we went on our bus tour of Dallas, offering students the chance to see and hear from more of those community partners and leaders — including Joppy Mommas farm and the Dallas Black Chamber of Commerce.
A big thanks to all who helped make these events happen and who attended!
