The Top 5 Reasons You Need A Dyslexia Therapist!

Are you worried about your child's progress in Reading?

Are you unsure how to support your child's learning at home? 🤔

Here are the top 5 reasons why a Dyslexia Therapist might be the solution you've been looking for!

Every parent wants the best for their child, and sometimes, that means finding extra support outside the classroom.

Is your child dyslexic and/or struggling to learn to read? Are they falling behind in school? Is their self-esteem taking a hit because of these struggles? Hiring a dyslexia therapist can change everything!

Here's why:

1️⃣ Personalized Attention: In a classroom setting, teachers can't always provide detailed support. A dyslexia therapist can give your child the direct attention they need, focusing on their unique learning style.

2️⃣ Mastering Reading: A dyslexia therapist can help your child build a strong foundation in reading and writing, making it possible to succeed in other academic subjects.

3️⃣ Confidence Boost: A dyslexia therapist can help your child overcome their fears and insecurities, empowering them to approach their studies with newfound confidence.

4️⃣ Improved Study Habits: A dyslexia therapist can help your child develop effective study techniques and time management skills, setting them up for long-term success.

5️⃣ Support for Parents: Let's face it – parents can't be experts in every subject. By hiring a dyslexia therapist, you can ensure that your child gets the academic support they need without stretching yourself too thin.

3 Ways To Boost Your Child’s Motivation To Get Better Grades In School!
If you want your child to succeed in Reading and go on to succeed in ALL subjects, where they learn and who they learn with matters!
Have you ever been worried that there are other students at school that may be a bad influence on your child and stop them from reaching their potential?
This is all too common - because their environment (who they are associated with) dictates their habits, and we already know how important building the right habits are!
At school, students don't have a choice - they have to go whether they like it or not. Which means there are some students who want to be there to learn, and others who don't.
Imagine this... If you were to climb to the top of Mount Everest by yourself, or with a group of unmotivated people, would you be likely to make it to the top?
Or, would you be better off with a leader and other people who were highly motivated to get to the top of the mountain?
Students need to be around other students who want to achieve the top results and grades. So that they feel motivated to do better, study smarter, and develop the belief that they are capable of achieving their reading goals.
What this does is that it provides an unlimited boost of motivation for students. Here's how you can help your child do this:
1) Help your child understand the importance of winning environments and being around like minded students.
2) Access education outside of school for your child so that they can upgrade their environment.
3) Find small-group, focused learning with students who also want to achieve success by learning to read fluently and accurately, on grade level and beyond!

How Your Child Can Become A Successful Reader!

Students who perform at the top of the class in Reading are 'wired' differently and study harder than most other students - even when they don’t want to!
Just like the top professional athletes on the planet they train harder than all the other athletes.
But for dyslexic students, it’s not about working harder- that doesn’t work for these students. It’s about working SMARTER! It’s about learning through a METHOD that is PROVEN to be effective for dyslexic students. The Orton-Gillingham Method is the gold standard for treating dyslexia and other literacy challenges.
The key to helping dyslexic students succeed in reading is to “re-wire” their brain, using this method. As learning starts to click, reading gradually becomes easier.
If it’s easier, they start to enjoy it more because they’re naturally more focused and become good readers!
Here's how you can help your child do this:
1) Invest in your child's education outside of school so that there is accountability to help them learn in a way that works for them and a better routine that enhances their learning.
2) Learning needs to be fun so that your child doesn't see doing additional study as 'boring'.
3) Goal setting to build a mindset for success by aligning your child with the importance of education and the benefits.

The 5 Steps To Help Your Child Learn to Read and Write
Most dyslexic students fail when it comes to doing well in Reading and Writing not because they aren't capable but because they are simply given the wrong strategy to succeed!
Which is very frustrating because a sports team that prepares for their next competitive fixture with the wrong strategy isn't going to succeed.
So how do you know your child has the wrong strategy to help them learn to Read and Write?
Simple... Do any of these sound familiar?

1- Does your child feel like a failure/have a negative self-image because, no matter how hard he/she tries in the typical language arts classroom, despite often being successful in other subjects, learning how to read just seems to elude him/her?

2- Because your child can’t figure out how to read, does he/she start to exhibit feelings of anxiety, anger, low self-esteem and even depression? Does he/she begin to dread school? Do he/she feel let down and abandoned?

3- Does your child find it difficult to focus during traditional classroom instruction, due to high energy needs and a need for more active/hands-on learning methods? Does your child need more attention and lots of reminders to stay on task, which is difficult to get in a traditional, large class of students?

That's why I changed my approach and strategy as a teacher! I became a Certified Academic Language Therapist and since I’ve started working with my students using the Orton-Gillingham Method, the results have been incredible!
Here's what your child needs to focus on:

Step 1) - IDENTIFY specific academic learning gaps in basic reading and writing skills through formal and informal assessments. (We will establish if the student has been tested formally for dyslexia.)

Step 2) - BUILD a solid foundation in phonemic awareness skills, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension through the structured, sequential, cumulative multisensory activities.

Step 3) - PRACTICE application of new skills during each lesson, including coding and reading words/phrases/sentences/paragraphs in decodable passages.

Step 4) - ASSESS growth using a benchmark pre-test and post-test to measure specific progress in Alphabet, Handwriting, Spelling and Reading at each level.

Step 5) - REVIEW AND REPEAT graphemes or concepts as needed. Continue working through the program scope and sequence until the student is able to read on or above grade level.
These 5 things are fundamental in helping your child become a successful reader and writer.
Just like a boxer preparing for a world championship fight....
When they prepare with the right strategy their chances of success increase dramatically.

Our Mission at Reading Revolution Dyslexia Therapy is to help dyslexic students learn to read and write so that they can go on to achieve success in all subject areas!

Here are 3 reasons why we want to see more students achieve their goals in Literacy:

#1 - Dyslexia therapy helps students to feel SUCCESSFUL! As they are going through the dyslexia program, they “crack the code” and are finally able to read, write and spell.

#2 - Dyslexia therapy helps students to feel CONFIDENT! They understand that it wasn’t their inability to learn or lack of motivation that hindered them, but rather that they needed to be taught through a DIFFERENT METHOD, specifically designed for dyslexics and how their brains work. This critical understanding gives them a newfound confidence that they CAN become successful readers and writers.

#3 - Dyslexia therapy helps students to feel EMPOWERED! They now have the solid knowledge, skills, and strategies to be able to read, spell, and write, and they no longer feel helpless and frustrated. They have now “learned to read” and they can use these skills to “read to learn”.

Are you looking to help your child accelerate their learning and reach their potential in Literacy, and, in turn, in all subject areas?
