Midnight Maven Sleep Consulting Pediatric Sleep Consultant
Postpartum Doula I am Emma Helverson owner of Midnight Maven Sleep Consulting.

I am a Certified Sleep Consultant, Post-Partum Doula, wife, and mother of 2 little girls. I have a Master's in Nursing Science with 10 years of specialty nursing in Labor and Delivery, Mother-Baby, and the Neonatal ICU. My first child was a difficult sleeper and I was exhausted and unsure where to turn or what to do; which left me feeling like a failing mother. On top of no sleep, I was not gettin

g quality time with my husband that I so desperately wanted. One day I had enough and I researched and applied sleep training methods which then ensured my child had adequate rest and allowed quality time for myself and with my husband. Once sleep was established a change happened and we had a happier home and a well-rested momma! Through my education and work experience, I have helped thousands of women with their pregnancy and post-partum needs including families achieving healthy sleep habits. I am extremely passionate about sleep which lead me to become a certified sleep consultant. I trained under Dana Obleman, the Creator of Sleep SenseTM Program, whose methods have been used worldwide by more than 57,000 families to quickly and easily solve their children’s sleep problems. I love to see families have a successful work-life balance when adding children to the mix. I am an advocate for Postpartum Health and success during the 4th trimester. I can’t wait to hear from you and help you achieve your family's sleep goals.

🛌✨ Back to School Sleep Reset Starts Now! ✨📚

The school year is just around the corner, is your child’s sleep schedule ready? 😴

Summer often means late nights, flexible routines, and slower mornings. But shifting back to early wake-ups doesn’t have to be a struggle!

👩‍⚕️ As a sleep coach, here’s how I recommend easing the transition:

✅ Start now: Move bedtime earlier by 15–30 minutes every 2–3 nights.
✅ Wake them up earlier, too: This helps reset their internal clock.
✅ Limit screens in the evening: Light and stimulation can delay melatonin production.
✅ Create a calming bedtime routine: Think bath, books, and quiet time. Create same steps, same order, every night.
✅ Be consistent: Sleep thrives on routine!

With a little prep, your child can start the school year rested, focused, and ready to learn. 💪📓

💤 Sleep Training Your 3-Year-Old: Yes, It’s Still Possible! 🧸

Struggling with bedtime battles, late-night visits to your bed, or early wake-ups? You’re not alone! sleepnsleep training at 3 years old can still be effective and help the whole family get better rest. 🙌

Here are some gentle but effective tips:

🌙 Create a predictable bedtime routine
Bath, books, snuggles, lights out consistency is key!

🕰 Set clear expectations
Use simple charts or bedtime passes to help your child understand what’s expected.

🎯 Stay calm but firm.
It’s okay to validate their feelings and still hold the boundary. “I know it’s hard, but it’s time to sleep.”

🌟 Praise and reward
Celebrate the little wins, even staying in bed for part of the night is progress!

💤 Remember: regressions are normal
Illness, changes in routine, or developmental leaps can throw things off. Stay consistent and supportive.

✨ Every child is different — if it’s not working, you’re not failing. Sometimes a little support goes a long way.

🍼 Newborn Sleep: What’s Normal? What’s Not? 😴

Those early days and nights with a newborn can feel like a blur….but don’t worry, you’re not alone! Here are a few things to keep in mind about newborn sleep in the first few weeks:

🌙 1. Sleep Comes in Short Bursts
Newborns typically sleep 14–17 hours in a 24-hour period. Usually in 2–4 hour chunks where they eat, play (awake for 20-30 minutes), sleep.

🕰 2. There’s no real set schedule yet!
Their internal clock (circadian rhythm) isn’t developed yet, so day and night may feel the same to your baby. Starting early with night time routines and habit will set up success as baby grows.

🤱 3. Safe Sleep is Essential
Always lay your baby on their back, on a firm, flat surface, with no loose blankets or toys.

💤 4. It’s Okay to Ask for Help
Sleep deprivation is real. Take turns with a partner, accept help, and rest when you can. Your well-being matters, too.

💕 You’re doing amazing. This season is intensebut temporary. Hang in there, and give yourself grace.
