These are fun ideas, parents. One I enjoyed with my upper elementary students was a year long story written as a Mad Lib (which left out various parts of speech). The kids would follow the story in their morning journal adding the parts of speech they thought would be interesting or funny or in some way the best option I should have. I randomly called on students to provide their words, and then I read it back to them. They absolutely loved the activity, and so did I.

When you read this article, please note that the author gives little detail, but it is good to note. I wish I knew the details of what happened (how many people on the school, how many classrooms were involved, what was their plan for students moving during the day, how are the cases connected), so that our local districts don't make the same mistake.

I am heart-sick to hear from so many teachers and parents about how concerned they are about children getting what they need to be successful this year. I was so saddened when I heard today about a young man who is "afraid" to go to school "because of the virus", so his mom is going to "let him learn online from home on his own". He is lucky that his mother can stay home with him and help him. Not all families have that wonderful gift of time and treasures available to them. I am here for those who need someone to help when they cannot.
