Hello neighbors! I’m excited to offer tutoring services again for our Windsong Ranch and Artesia families.
I specialize in kindergarten readiness and foundational skills, including:
📚 Phonics
✏️ Reading & Writing
➕ Math
Sessions are 1 hour and held in my classroom at Windsong Ranch Elementary.
🕒 Availability: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 3:45–4:45 and some Saturdays by request.
💲 Pricing:
• $40 per session
• $35 per session when booking multiple sessions
Each child begins with a quick assessment, allowing me to create a customized learning plan tailored to their needs. I also provide optional practice activities for home and regular parent check-ins to keep you updated on progress.
I truly love working with our local kiddos and helping them grow in confidence and skills! 💛

Well, Summer is really flying by! I wanted to let my customers know that I will continue accepting Venmo and Zelle as payment. Payment will be expected immediately following each session. My rate will also be $40 an hour moving forward. Thank you so much for your continued business and enjoy the rest of your summer!

Reading is so important!!

Tim Shanahan notes in one of his comments to his most recent blog on Science of Reading:
“It is not a good idea to limit children's reading to typical decodable text. Decoding is complicated, more complicated than most of us could ever explain to a 6-year-old. Yes, use decodable text as part of a phonics lesson to give kids practice with what you teach, but encourage/support children reading less controlled text early on (part of what kids need to learn is to deal with irregularity). Increasingly, folks are developing ways of explicitly supporting the flexibility that is needed to deal with irregular and conditional spellings, but allowing students to try to deal with that does not hurt them, it increases their chances of constructing the system of decoding that works.”

Authentic text is so important. I feel like decodables are the training wheels for each skill but the training wheels need to come off at some point too.
