Hi, hello, hola to all followers new and old! Raise your hand if this school year has absolutely kicked your butt ππΌ
Iβve been hard at working advocating for students and working to close so many learning gaps. My big goals and dreams for The Brain Adventure became less important as my work load continued to increase.
Todays Dallas snow day was the reminder I needed to get back in gear. This me me, officially checking in with myself and setting goals to keep moving The Brain Adventurer forward.
Check out my 3 goals and drop yours below!
1. Create posts and infographics to educate parents and teachers about dyslexia
2. Collaborate and engage with other dyslexia interventionists and literacy specialists
3. Help parents, students, and teachers advocate for themselves and others

Multi-sensory teaching benefits every single child because they are introduced to new concepts simultaneously through multiple senses. Take a look at my last few posts to read more about how auditory, visual, and kinesthetic discovery of new concepts can help students learn and grow! β β β β β β β β β

The multi-sensory teaching approach requires simultaneous learning. Students are learning new concepts through auditory, visual, and kinesthetic introductions. Check out my previous posts for more information on each one! β β β β β β β β β

TOUCH is one of the most important components of learning but it is often left out! Worksheets and drilling simply don't cut it! When students can learn with their bodies and by using their tactile senses, they are better able to learn and absorb new knowledge!

Not only do students need to be able to hear the sound in the word, but they should be able to identify what letter represents that sound!

My students love and struggle with auditory discovery the most! It can be so difficult to hear sounds in words, but with practice and repetition, students can start applying these skills. Swipe to see an example of phonics auditory discovery. There are so many other ways to apply it!

Have you ever thought about how you learn things? Are you a visual person that needs to see graphs, charts, and powerpoints to understand new learning? Do you prefer to listen and learn? Are you someone that needs to go through the physical motions to learn a new activity? Each of our brains, just like students with dyslexia, are unique and learn in different ways. The multi-sensory teaching approach allows all of our students to learn in a way that is tailored to their brain!

Each day this week, I will be breaking down signs of dyslexia at different stages of a person's life! Dyslexia does not and should not hold you back! With the right training, you can learn to read, spell, and write successfully. Early intervention is very important! Please keep these signs in mind as you teach your students! Drop any questions below!
