🚨 ICE is increasing investigations into F1 visa, CPT, and OPT fraud — and this could seriously impact international students in the USA

⚠️ The biggest risk?
Students can accidentally get involved with fraudulent employers or staffing companies without fully understanding the consequences to their visa status.

✅ What international students should do:
• Verify every employer and internship opportunity
• Avoid fake staffing/consulting setups
• Make sure your OPT/CPT work is legitimate and properly documented
• Keep records of employment, payroll, and communication
• Ask questions before accepting suspicious offers

💭 What do you think — will this help or hurt international students? 👇

🚨 Stop making permanent decisions based on temporary situations.

🎯 shares why international students in the USA shouldn’t tie their identity to job rejections, layoffs, visa stress, or career setbacks.

1️⃣ “Entry-Level” Jobs

-Asking for 2–5 years of experience
-Expect knowledge of multiple tools/technologies
-Require real-world projects or internships
-Sometimes labeled entry-level but closer to mid-level roles

2️⃣ Hundreds of Applicants

-100–500+ applicants per job posting
-Popular roles can cross 1000+ applications
-Recruiters spend only 5–10 seconds per resume
-High competition, especially in tech/business roles

3️⃣ ATS Filters (Resume Screening)

-60–80% resumes filtered before human review
-Missing keywords = auto rejection
-Formatting issues can cause parsing errors
-Tailored resumes perform much better

4️⃣ Sponsorship Barrier

-Many roles clearly say “No sponsorship available”
-Companies prefer candidates with work authorization
-Fewer companies file H-1B each year compared to demand
-Limits options for international students significantly

5️⃣ Multiple Interview Rounds

-Typically 3–5 rounds per role
-Includes technical, behavioral, and case interviews
-Process can take 2–6+ weeks
-Final rounds often have strong competition

6️⃣ Ghosting Reality

No replies after 100+ applications is common
-Some candidates get ghosted even after interviews
-Recruiters may not send rejection emails
-Follow-ups sometimes required

7️⃣ Experience Catch-22

-Need experience → to get a job
-Need a job → to gain experience
-Internships/projects become key differentiators
-Many start with smaller roles or contracts

⚠️ Reality Check

-Job search can take 3–6+ months
-Rejection rate is high (often 90%+)
-Consistency matters more than speed

✅ What Actually Helps

-Referrals can increase chances by 2–4x
-Applying early (first 24–48 hours)
-Strong, tailored resumes
-Consistent networking + follow-ups

💬 How many applications have you sent so far? 😅
