Some exciting news for ya’ll: it’s ELECTION TIME!

We’re conducting elections for the following positions: President, Vice-president, Secretary, VP Finance, VP Events/Logistics, VP Communications, and VP Translation.

For those interested in running or re-running for a position, please fill out this form: https://forms.gle/ixrT6YeHQTfUVeUP8.

Your response to the following question “What do you hope to offer to our club as an executive for this position(s)? What makes you qualified for this role(s)?” will be published on our Discord server on July 15th. It will remain up on our server until election day, which will be July 22nd. During the “campaign period” from July 14th to July 20th, you can engage with our club members (a.k.a. answer any questions that they might have for you).

Hello uOAstronauts! Hope y’all are having a great summer!

We are planning to hold a casual observation night ✨ 🔭 this Saturday, June 3rd from 9-11PM at People's park (160 Lees Ave). Please let us know if you can make it by RSVPing through the link in our linktree.

IMPORTANT: Our rain date is Sunday, June 4th. In case weather conditions are unfavourable on Saturday, we will push the event to Sunday.

Although this will be a naked eye observation event, we would love it if you could bring your observation equipment (like binoculars or a telescope!). Please bring your own blankets/mat to lie on. Bug spray is also recommended.

Hi everyone! Hope your summer break is amazing so far 💫

Unfortunately, due to the weather, we are postponing our observation night until further notice. While spring is lovely, the rainy weather makes night sky observation difficult to schedule.

We are working on setting up a date in early May if the forecast clears up. Keep your eyes on our discord page & our socials for updates!

Once again, we’re sorry for any inconvenience this caused, and we hope to have an updated date soon.

🚨🚨 UPCOMING OBSERVATION NIGHT 🚨🚨

On Sunday, April 30th, our club + Professor Gigault and De Koninck will be holding an observation event in Sandy Hill starting at 8 pm! This observation will focus on night observation and we are planning to take a look at the Moon, along with planets, stars, and deep-space objects. Although we have a telescope, we encourage you to bring your own or even binoculars, so this way you can experience other methods to observe the clear sky! 🌌✨


Please note that timings are still tentative as this event is subject to the weather. If our observation event cannot be held on Sunday, we will announce another date possible.

We will provide hot chocolate!

Le dimanche 30 avril, notre club + le professeur Gigault et De Koninck tiendront un événement d'observation à Sandy Hill à partir de 20 h! UPCOMING EVENT: Astrophotography Workshop!📸 🪐

Hello uOAstronauts!

Interested in learning more about astrophotography? Join us for a virtual astrophotography workshop on Wednesday, April 12th at 4:30PM by Dr. Christian Gigault, who is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics at uOttawa.

You will learn how to use the free Registax software to process beautiful astrophotography!

Please download Registax 6 in advance: http://www.astronomie.be/registax/download.html. Click on "Release 6.1.0.0." to download. You will be given sample videos in advance so you can follow along with Dr. Gigault.
