The Door Gods Through the Eyes of Children Growing Up in America
Eight- to ten-year-old students reinterpret the traditional Chinese guardian deities through the lens of their own imagination.
Some render them in anime style.
Some dress them in Western armor.
Some transform the Door Gods into lovable animal heroes.
Culture is not only something we inherit —
it is something that takes root, grows,
and blossoms in new lands.
With the Lantern Festival just around the corner,
may the light of lanterns travel across mountains and oceans,
protecting the reunion of every family.
