The Road East

There are moments in life when we stand at the edge of the known world and are asked to trust a road we cannot fully see.

A few days ago, I loaded my car in California and began driving east.

California became Nevada.

Nevada became Utah.

Utah became Wyoming.

Wyoming became Nebraska.

Nebraska became Iowa.

Iowa became Illinois across the mighty Mississippi River.

Then onward through Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and finally New York.

At first, it seemed like a journey across states.

But somewhere along the open highways, beneath vast skies and endless horizons, I realized I was not simply crossing America.

I was crossing a chapter of my life. Every mile carried a memory.

Every state line marked the ending of one story and the beginning of another.

There were moments of uncertainty. Moments when fear sat quietly in the passenger seat beside me.

Moments when I wondered if all the sacrifice, all the setbacks, all the years of struggle had truly led somewhere.

Yet every time an obstacle appeared, another door seemed to open.

Not always in the way I expected. Not always in the timing I desired. But enough to keep moving forward.

Enough to remind me that life often reveals the next step only after we have taken the previous one.

The ocean does not show us the entire voyage. It shows us only the next wave. Looking back now, I understand that courage is not the absence of doubt.

Courage is continuing the journey while carrying doubt with you.

Faith is not knowing the outcome. Faith is driving toward the horizon anyway.

So today I offer this pebble to anyone standing at the beginning of a new chapter:

Trust the road.

Trust the process.

Trust the lessons hidden within the journey.

For one day you will look back and realize that what appeared to be a series of highways, state lines, and obstacles was, in truth, Life gently guiding you toward the person you were always meant to become.
