Recently someone asked me (on the phone) “How are you?”
This is someone I haven’t seen in at least 10 years and we’ve only exchanged a handful of texts in the last 2 years.
My response “Do you really want to know?”
He genuinely wanted to know and so I replied “In this moment I’m pi**ed that there are two things I really want to do on the same day…” and proceeded to say a lot more.
I used to keep it all in, sharing facts with no emotional component.
I’m done doing that.
Don’t ask me how I am if you aren’t truly interested in my truth, my current emotional and physical state.
What’s the point of connecting, having conversation, if we’re glossing over the hard stuff and pretending everything is ok. (This isn’t a cry for help, everything for the most part is fine… this is me finally sharing with people, so I don’t feel weighed down carrying it all on my own.)
We had an amazing conversation because we were both truly honest with nothing to hide and nothing to prove.
The way I get high on the beauty (and smells) of nature is how I feel with genuine, open hearted conversations, filled with insights, growth and curiosity!
I then proceeded to share with another friend (while walking amongst these flowers) the stuff going on in my life, the challenging parts, not for anything to be fixed but to alleviate carrying it all on my own.
Thank you to the people who listen, who don’t judge or try to fix. Thank you to nature for being so healing.
Happy Friday!
If you’re ever needing someone to listen to you, judgement free, don’t hesitate!
