๐โจ Tales and Tails โ Week 3: Birds & Egg-Laying Animals! โจ๐ชถ๐ฆ
This week in Tales and Tails we explored birds and the amazing variety of ways animals begin life!
We read the story of the hardworking chicken who baked bread all on her ownโlearning about responsibility, effort, and what happens when others donโt lend a hand. ๐๐
Then, we dove into science after reading a second story and discovered that eggs come in many forms from many critters. We looked at bird eggs, butterfly eggs that eventually become caterpillars and butterflies, and even learned about โmermaidโs pursesโโthe unique leathery egg cases that sharks and rays lay in the ocean! ๐ฅ๐ฆ๐ฆ
We talked about feathers and how they help birds fly, stay warm, stay dry, and survive in their environments. ๐ชถ๐ฆ We also preformed the egg drop test to see how to tell good eggs from bad eggs for cooking purposes!
Next, the kids participated in an egg drop race (with fake eggs๐). Finally, we enjoyed some locally baked sourdough bread and locally made berry jam, just like our first story.
Stories, science, and hands-on curiosity made for another wonderful week of learning with our young explorers!
