At Bright Beginnings , even the simplest activities are filled with meaningful learning—and this week’s wash and dry sensory bin is a perfect example!

Our children explored washing, scrubbing, squeezing, and drying items, turning everyday routines into rich, hands-on experiences. While it may look like play, this activity is supporting so many important developmental skills:

We’re so excited to shine the spotlight on Ms. Natalie this week! 💛

Ms. Natalie brings several years of experience caring for young children and has grown within Bright Beginnings as a dedicated and passionate educator. She is CPR and First Aid certified and is committed to creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment where children can thrive.

You’ll often find Ms. Natalie reading stories or dancing with her students—two of her favorite ways to connect and bring joy into the classroom! 📚💃 She loves all of Eric Carle’s books, especially The Very Hungry Caterpillar, and enjoys spending her free time swimming, walking her dogs, and stargazing. ✨

Her favorite core value is COMMUNICATE, and she truly embodies this each day by building strong, supportive connections with both children and families.

Our infant playground features soft, safe AstroTurf, creating the perfect space for babies to explore, move, and grow comfortably. Outdoor time for infants is so much more than fresh air—it’s an essential part of healthy development. Being outside supports sensory exploration, gross motor development, and helps build early connections to the natural world. From feeling different textures to watching leaves move in the breeze, these simple moments spark curiosity and wonder.

Spending time outdoors also promotes better sleep, boosts mood, and provides a calm, open environment where infants can safely stretch, crawl, and discover at their own pace.

🌿 🔍Wonder of the Week

"Where does he live when he isn't visiting our playground?" 🐸

Sometimes the most meaningful lessons aren't written into our lesson plans—they hop right into them.

This week, our children discovered a tiny frog exploring our playground. Before anyone suggested what to do next, the questions began to pour in.

"Where did he come from?"

"Does he have a family?"

"What does he eat?"

"Can he hear us?"

"Why is he here?"

Instead of immediately answering those questions, we paused.

We observed.

We listened.

We wondered.

The children crouched quietly around the frog, noticing the colors of its skin, the way it moved, how it blended into its surroundings, and how quickly it disappeared when it felt unsafe. They shared their own theories with one another, compared ideas, and began making connections to things they had already experienced in nature.

Over the next few days, that one unexpected discovery sparked conversations about habitats, life cycles, wetlands, insects, camouflage, and caring for living things. We looked through books, searched for pictures of local frogs, listened to frog calls, and even began wondering what other creatures might share our outdoor classroom.

At Bright Beginnings, we believe curiosity is worth following.

A frog wasn't just an exciting playground visitor—it became a teacher.

Because in a Reggio-inspired classroom, learning doesn't always begin with a planned activity. Sometimes it begins with a child who notices something extraordinary in an ordinary moment.

This week’s curriculum highlight brought learning to life in the sweetest way—our 2’s made peach cobbler in a cup! 🍑👩‍🍳

Cooking projects are such a powerful learning experience for young children. As our little chefs measured, poured, mixed, and layered their ingredients, they were building so much more than a tasty treat! These hands-on moments support fine motor development, hand-eye coordination, and early math skills like counting and measuring. Following simple steps also encourages listening skills, sequencing, and growing independence.

Beyond the developmental benefits, cooking invites children to explore new textures, smells, and tastes—engaging their senses and sparking curiosity in a meaningful, memorable way. And of course, there’s nothing better than the pride on their faces when they enjoy something they made all by themselves!
