I am by no means perfect, but I am human. But I will not apologize for telling my truth and sharing my struggles. Eating disorders, addictions, and mental health illnesses are not choices. If anything they show just how strong and resilient we are as humans.

Today marks 30 days sober AGAIN as well. And no I didn't fail at being sober, I stumbled. But I picked myself up again and now we are on a new journey!

Hey IG!

It's been a while and I'm ready to speak my truth. I paused posting on here because I relapsed with my Eating Disorder. As soon as I noticed signs that something was off I reached out to my mentor for help and took a step back from coaching. I was ashamed and embarrassed that I relapsed but have since learned that there was a missing piece from my prior recovery journey.

With that being said I am fighting harder than ever before and have an amazing treatment team that is helping me find my true soul self and continue this healing journey.

I hope to be an inspiration to others that you can have a relapse and keep fighting. Full recovery is possible and I know it because I know so many incredible people that have found it.

Moving forward this will be an account of inspiration and proof that we can fully recover!

Love & Light to All!

I’ve taken a step back from posting recently and have decided to make it official. Life has gotten pretty crazy and I feel as though I need to take a pause and focus on myself and my family. I still plan to post in stories and such, but I will not be creating new content. I do not know how long this pause will be…maybe a week or a few months. Only time will tell but I know this is the right thing for my mental health.

My inbox is always open and I will check it frequently in the even that someone feels drawn to my page and could use some support.

The biggest thing I learned in recovery is that I have to put myself first and the rest will follow!

XOXO
Steff

Short and sweet for today. This is your reminder that there is a greater purpose for your life than just focusing on calories and weight loss.

You are so much more than just a body. You are a unique human with a one of a kind soul. So allow your soul to shine!

Recovery is a big and scary word when you have struggled with an eating disorder. But it doesn’t have to be. Instead of being scared for it, we can get excited for the new things it may bring.

Just like recovery sounds scary, so may your meal plan in the beginning when you first start refeeding your body. It might seem daunting and overwhelming- but you are not alone.

I felt that way too and so many others do as well. It may seem like a lot if you are used to restricting.

So break it down. By meal, by bite…whatever you have to do to make it easier for yourself is okay!

You got this warrior!

Having dialogue between your Eating Disorder Self and Health Self during recovery is critical. In order to heal, you have to work on strengthening your healthy self. Take a look at this dialogue!

Ed self: I want to buy a scale

Healthy self: whatever number you see it’s not going to be low enough and you know that.

Ed self: I just need to see if acting on behaviors is working.

Healthy: and then what will happen? Play the tape. Have you ever been okay with the number you’ve seen?

Ed self: no but maybe this time will be different.

Healthy: it never has before so why would it be different this time? Do you want to risk everything in your life just for the number on the scale to go lower?

Next time your have an eating disorder self thought, trying making a dialogue and let me know how it goes!

Far too many times in Eating Disorder recovery do individuals get mad at themselves for using behaviors after not using them for a while. This time, instead of getting angry and upset with yourself I challenge you to get curious. Ask yourself questions about what is really going on.

Is there something missing from your life?

Are you avoiding something?

Getting curious and asking questions will allow you to see the whole picture. It will allow you to explore what is really going on and put you in a place where you can make changes instead of just berating yourself.

Slips happen. What is important is that you learn from them!

So ask yourself, what is your eating disorder trying to tell you today?

Because we are human we are born with imperfections.

Because we are human we are not expected to succeed at everything.

Because we are human we have bodies of all different shapes and sizes.

Because we are human our bodies change over time.

Because we are human we fall down every so often.

So next time you fall or fail or are disappointed in yourself- remind yourself that you are human and it is okay.

I was going to post this right when we entered 2023 but then per usual life got in the way. But honestly I think it’s still appropriate to post after we are a week into the New Year and hearing people talk negatively about this year already.

2023 is going to be what we make of it. We have the opportunity to take the negative and turn it into positives. We have the ability to make ourselves the best version possible.

So what are you going to do to make this your best year yet?!

I am beyond disgusted with the amount of discrimination I have come across recently with clients needing a HLOC. Everyone states that eating disorders don’t discriminate, but how can those in unique situations get proper treatment if treatment centers won’t accept their eating disorder.

Our system is broken and it needs to change.

This time of year can be especially triggering and difficult for those who have had a past of disordered eating because everyone is talking about New Years resolutions, things they want to change, things they want to do better, and weight they want to lose.

This year, I challenge. You to change the topic of conversation when this is going on get people to come up with other things they can do in the New Year besides start a diet and exercise to lose weight.

What are some other unique things that you could try in the New Year besides focusing on weight loss?

Eating Didorders are extremely complicated and difficult illnesses. Just because you have put a lot of time and effort into recovery, doesn’t mean you are immune from a relapse.

Sometimes relapses are a part of the journey and that is okay! Having a relapse doesn’t cancel the work you have done and how far you have come.

Recovery is a long journey with lots of ups and downs!

Are you finding that your eating disorder self voices are getting louder? Reach out today for more support!
