Kickstart Soccer was all about teamwork this week! Our little soccer stars practiced dribbling and kicking their balls around the cones and then finishing with a kick into the goal! 🥅⚽️

But we weren’t just practicing soccer skills, we were practicing taking turns, encouraging our friends, and working together as a team. Soccer is such a great way for young children to learn that sometimes we have to wait for our turn, communicate with others, and work together toward the same goal.

Every kick, every turn, and every cheer for a friend is helping build confidence, cooperation, and teamwork!

🏆Congratulations to our Cadence Academy Alumni who received the Kenwood Station Elementary Kindness award! 🏆

8 CAP Alumni (Kindergarten-5th grade) exemplified our Kind Child Culture beyond the walls of our school! This just goes to show that the seeds of kindness are planted and take root in the early years of childhood, and just a little bit goes a long way
🫶🏻🌱🌎

Post your Cadence kind kiddos below! We’d love to see our big kids spreading kindness in the world!

We kicked off our Dolly Parton 9-to-5 Day with a DROP-OFF DANCE PARTY in the lobby! ✨ Our little country stars and teachers showed up in their best Dolly-inspired outfits, ready to start the day with big smiles, big hair, and lots of fun! And because our parents were headed off to work their own 9 to 5, we sent them on their way with a little Cup of Ambition ☕️

But today is about more than just dressing up and dancing! Dolly Parton has made an incredible impact on early childhood education through her Imagination Library, which provides free, high-quality books to children from birth to age 5. Her belief that every child deserves the opportunity to grow up surrounded by books and imagination is something we love celebrating!

Early literacy starts long before kindergarten. Reading together builds language, vocabulary, listening skills, imagination, and a lifelong love of learning - and Dolly has helped make that opportunity available to children all over the world.

So today, we’re celebrating the woman who reminded us to work hard, dream big, read often, and never be afraid to be a little bit Dolly! 💕🎶

A little nature, a little creativity, and a whole lot of imagination! 🌸

Our PreK friends headed outside to collect treasures from nature - leaves, grass, flowers (grown in our very own PreK garden!), sticks, and more to create their very own garden fairies!

What looks like a fun craft is also a great learning experience! The children practiced observation, fine motor skills, creativity, and decision-making as they searched for materials, made their own choices, and turned things they found in nature into something completely their own.

Our toddlers got an early introduction to the skeletons inside our bodies by exploring X-rays on the light table! At this age, it’s all about noticing, exploring, and making sense of something new.

Fast forward to PreK, and our kids are using those same early experiences to take their learning a step further! They independently worked to put X-ray pictures together to create a whole skeleton, using problem-solving, visual skills, and a little bit of persistence along the way.

It may look like two very different activities, but this is what learning looks like as children grow. The simple opportunities we give our youngest learners to explore and investigate help build the foundation for the more complex skills they’ll use later on in school.

Getting comfy with a good book! Our 4 & 5-year-olds settled into some cozy reading time, and while it may look like they’re simply enjoying a book, there’s so much more learning happening! They’re practicing how to share a space, respect each other’s personal space, and use gentle hands and bodies around their friends.

Sometimes the simplest moments are full of the biggest lessons! 📖

🦁🐘 A little zoo adventure right in the classroom!

It may look like our toddlers are just playing with animals, but there’s so much learning happening! They’re learning animal names, building new vocabulary, practicing those little hand muscles, and using their imaginations as they play. 🦒🦓

Is it just stacking cups… or is it learning?

To our toddlers, it’s play, but they’re learning so much along the way! Stacking cups helps one year olds practice fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, balance, problem-solving, and early math concepts as they figure out how the cups fit together and how high they can build.

Even the simplest activities can be full of learning! Sometimes the best learning happens when little ones are simply given the chance to explore, try, and figure things out on their own.

Today our PreK friends traded in their paper and pencils for something a little more fun… bags of paint!

They practiced tracing their names by moving their fingers through the paint filled bags. It was a fun sensory twist on a skill they’re working hard to master!

Tracing helps our PreK friends practice the lines and movements they’ll need for writing, while the finger movements also help strengthen the small muscles in their hands. Those little hand muscles are so important when it comes to holding a pencil and writing independently.
