Lutefisk is one of Norway’s most iconic—and most debated—traditional dishes. Made from dried whitefish (usually cod), it is soaked in water, treated with lye, and then soaked again before cooking, giving it its famous jelly-like texture. Traditionally served during the Christmas season with potatoes, peas, bacon, and mustard, lutefisk itself has a very mild flavor—the sides do most of the work. Dating back hundreds of years to a time when preserving fish was essential for survival, lutefisk today is less about taste and more about heritage, family gatherings, and keeping old traditions alive. Love it or hate it, it remains a true symbol of Norwegian food culture. 🇳🇴

The CG Lions Booster Club will be selling commemorative aprons that mark “60 Years of Tradition” at Saturday’s Annual Lutefisk Dinner. Aprons will be in Norwegian red or blue and will be $25. All proceeds from this event benefit the students of CGISD. Stay tuned for a picture tomorrow!❤️🐟🇳🇴

The fish masters are at work! There are still some tickets for 6:00 and 6:45, but they are going quickly. Call Laura at 1-254-253-1210 to get set up.
The original plan was to check in our guests in the elementary building due to the high school building and gym still being renovated. However, we WILL be able to check in at the high school when you arrive on campus. Bonus: The gym is not finished but the windows from the hallway to the gym are in, so you will be able to see what's being done in the gym. Our superintendent and a couple of board members will be greeting guests and will be able to answer any questions you have about the reconstruction.

Have you gotten your 2025 Lutefisk tickets yet? This will be our 60th year! The 4:30 seating is sold out. Still openings for 5:15, 6:00, and 6:45. Call Laura at 254-253-1210 or stop by First Security State Bank locations in Cranfills Gap, Clifton, and Meridian. You don't want to miss out on this event. Be adventurous and travel to Cranfills Gap on December 6 for the 60th Annual Lutefisk Dinner at the Cranfills Gap School. Sponsored by the Cranfills Gap Lions Booster Club supports CGISD activities and has put over $275,000 into our school to cover things like athletic & cheerleading uniforms, welders, yearbook cameras, science lab equipment, classroom needs, and so much more over the years. This year's focus has been on updating the elementary playground equipment. Come join us for a family-style meal of lutefisk, boiled potatoes, white sauce, melted butter, turkey & dressing, green beans, homemade bread, cranberry sauce, and homemade pies. Bring a friend!
