Covington Latin School

Covington Latin School Founded in 1923, Covington Latin School is a Catholic, accelerated, college preparatory, co-educational school.

Gifted and talented 7-12 grade students from the region attend CLS in order to receive the best in classical education. Research reveals that gifted students are more intellectually and academically advanced than their age peers. Acceleration is an intervention, allowing students to move at a pace, level and complexity appropriate to their individual needs. Latin School offers an accelerated progr

am for highly motivated and talented fifth, sixth and seventh grade students to advance one to two years, to a curriculum more appropriate to their individual needs. While a day school, Latin School draws extensively throughout Northern Kentucky, Greater Cincinnati and Southern Indiana. Lastly, we’ve doubled the size of our facilities with a $10M expansion and fully renovated our existing facilities – a source of school pride and a visible commitment to return on our family’s investment.

We are so blessed, as the Bishop's School, to assist at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass at the magnificently beautiful Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption.

Today, Father Black took the Prep 7 and Prep 8 classes on a private tour of the Cathedral Basilica so that our students can further appreciate it's beauty as they worship.

This year, Covington Latin School will celebrate a remarkable milestone: the 100th GRADUATING CLASS!

For more than a century, CLS has formed gifted students through an accelerated classical education rooted in goodness, discipline, and knowledge. Across generations, our graduates have served, led, built, taught, healed, created, protected, and strengthened communities near and far.

As we prepare for this historic commencement, we are launching 100 Years, 100 Stories, a special series highlighting alumni whose lives reflect the enduring impact of a Covington Latin education.

These stories are not simply about careers or accomplishments. They are about the formation that only a classical education can provide. They show what happens when gifted students are challenged early, taught to think deeply, expected to work hard, and encouraged to use their talents for a purpose greater than themselves.

Celebrating the 100th graduating class is also an opportunity to honor every class that came before it. Each graduate is part of a larger story that began in 1923 and continues today in the lives of our students, alumni, families, faculty, and friends.

We begin this series with gratitude for the legacy entrusted to us and excitement for the future still being written.

Today, we are proud to begin by spotlighting Meghan Waters, Class of 2010.

Meghan currently serves as the Director of External Education at the McConnell Center at the University of Louisville. In this role, she develops and implements civic education programs for Kentucky teachers and students, strengthening understanding of American government, citizenship, leadership, and public service.

Her work also supports U.S. Army soldiers selected to participate in the McConnell Center’s annual Strategic Broadening Seminar, a program designed to deepen participants’ understanding of strategy, leadership, and civic life.

Before joining the McConnell Center, Meghan served as Communications Director to former Congressman Brad Wenstrup of Ohio’s 2nd Congressional District. She also served in various administrative capacities with the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

After graduating from Covington Latin School, Meghan earned bachelor’s degrees in political science and criminal justice from the University of Louisville. She later earned a master’s degree in law enforcement intelligence and analysis from Michigan State University.

In 2019, Meghan received Covington Latin School’s Distinguished Young Alumni Award, recognizing her early professional achievement, leadership, and commitment to service.

Meghan’s story is a powerful reminder that a Covington Latin education prepares graduates to think critically, serve faithfully, and lead thoughtfully in fields that shape our communities and our country.

Thank you, Meghan, for using your gifts to serve civic education, public leadership, and the common good.

💚💛Green and Gold Day 2026 💚💛

Yesterday, we welcomed back all of our students for our annual Green and Gold Day. We started the day with Mass, followed by a school blessing led by Father Black.

The rest of the day featured leadership activities for our Form II-IV students, while our Prep 7 through Form I students met their teachers and got technology set up.

At the end of the day, our new students were sorted into their houses by the trusty Trojan Helmet.

Yesterday, Covington Latin School welcomed back our faculty and staff for the start of the new school year.

In the morning, our faculty and staff gathered with all Catholic educators across the Diocese of Covington for the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass with our chief teacher, His Excellency John C. Iffert, Bishop of Covington. We are praying for all our students and simply cannot wait to see them all again next week!

Throughout the rest of the day, our team had the opportunity to hear from Thomas More University President Dr. Joseph Chillo, our administration team and other colleagues about exciting updates from the summer and important information about the start of the new school year.
