π Employee Spotlight: Meet Mr. David Brooks π
Today, we shine the spotlight on one of our incredible team members, Mr. David Brooks, a Facilities Technician at our Service Center. David truly embodies the spirit of dedication and kindness that makes our Newton County School System family so special.
David has been described as "Johnny on the spot" by those who've had the privilege of working with him. He's the guy who's always ready to lend a helping hand, with tools in hand and a smile on his face. But recently, he went above and beyond in an extraordinary way.
In a heartwarming act of kindness, David responded to an urgent service call when one of our BOE employees accidentally lost a cherished family heirloom down the drain. This ring held immense sentimental value, having been passed down through the generations. Our employee's mother passed the ring on to her and that particular day marked the 16th anniversary of her mother's passing. Losing it on such a day was particularly heartbreaking.
But David, with his expertise and determination, took the sink apart and found the precious ring. His actions not only retrieved a priceless heirloom but also put a smile on our colleague's face and renewed her hope in the goodness of humanity. This is just like Davidβalways going the extra mile to make a difference.
When asked why he loves working for Newton County Schools, David shared, "It's just a different challenge every day. We have a wide scope of what we do, maybe fishing a ring out of a sink or repairing lights, we never know. Every day is a different challenge."
David, thank you for your unwavering dedication, your positive attitude, and your ability to turn challenges into triumphs. You are a true asset to our team, and we're grateful to have you in the Newton County School System family.
