We are so proud of you, Metzin!

Congratulations to alumna Metzin Rodriguez on earning a prestigious Fulbright award to the United Kingdom! 🎉

A 2021 BioResource Research graduate, Metzin will pursue a fully funded master’s degree in International Development at the University of Sheffield, where she’ll explore community-based approaches to climate resilience and emergency preparedness. Her work aims to better understand how communities can prepare for and respond to future challenges, with the goal of helping shape stronger, more accessible policies for frontline communities in Oregon. We’re proud to celebrate this exciting achievement and all that lies ahead in her journey!

Meet Oregon State University BioResource Research (BRR) Student, Florian Malnor.

"So my results were actually [that] there was one species of native plant that was . . . in high abundance that the pollinators liked . . . all the other ones that pollinators visited and that were there in high abundance were invasive.

So I think if I were to [continue this research] I would . . . compare the results of this study to a restored oak savannah to see what . . . native plants are there that maybe have been replanted or are able to grow when the invasive plants are removed."

This post is the third in a series of interviews with BioResource Research undergraduate majors, from fellow BRR student Tori Fite

Meet Oregon State University BioResource Research (BRR) Student, Maud Birkey

"I’m in Dr. Julia Yue Cui's lab and we are studying the gut microbiome. We’re investigating the gut-brain axis and how inflammation in the gut from exposure to certain toxins, certain chemicals, may cause inflammatory cascades that may worsen the progression of things like Alzheimer’s, which is what my focus is. . . . Being able to see like the connection and the real impacts that it may have on us has been super interesting."

This post is the second in a series of interviews with BioResource Research undergraduate majors, from fellow BRR student Tori Fite.
