Moms Demand Action - OR Oregon Moms Demand Action brings together survivors, parents, and community advocates to fight for a future free from gun violence.

This is a volunteer-led page. Moms Demand Action is a grassroots movement of Americans fighting for public safety measures that can protect people from gun violence. We pass stronger gun laws and work to close the loopholes that jeopardize the safety of our families. We also work in our own communities and with business leaders to encourage a culture of responsible gun ownership. We know that gun

violence is preventable, and we’re committed to doing what it takes to keep families safe. We were founded by Shannon Watts, a mother of five. The day after the Sandy Hook tragedy, Shannon started a Facebook group with the message that all Americans can and should do more to reduce gun violence. The online conversation turned into a movement of moms, dads, students, families, concerned citizens and survivors working together with our partners in the gun violence prevention movement to end this uniquely American crisis.

Summer is one of the hardest times of year for our blood supply. During the 100 deadliest days between Memorial Day and Labor Day, donations tend to drop as vacations and travel pick up, while hospitals see an increase in traumas and emergencies.

That’s why Moms Demand Action Oregon is hosting a virtual statewide blood drive through September 7! ❤️

The best part? You can donate anywhere in Oregon and still be part of our drive.

Find a blood donation center near you, search Bloodworks Northwest locations, if there’s one nearby and use code MOMS when you donate. Can’t find one? Any donation center works!

We had a fantastic time connecting with families, sharing Be SMART resources, and spending the day alongside our local law enforcement officers. Thank you to everyone who stopped by our table, asked questions, and took the time to learn about secure firearm storage.

Protecting kids starts with simple conversations and responsible storage. We’re grateful for every opportunity to share that message.

Thank you to Alliance for a Safer Oregon for hosting our community for a screening of Thoughts & Prayers. This powerful, heartbreaking film shines a light on the realities of gun violence in our nation and the ripple effects it has on families and communities. We were honored to hear from producer Gary Kout following the screening and are grateful for the conversation that followed. As well as hearing from Senator Rob Wagner on his commitment to passing common sense gun laws.

Thoughts & Prayers is now streaming on HBO, and we highly recommend watching it. Please be aware that it contains difficult subject matter and may be triggering for survivors of gun violence and others impacted by trauma.

Awareness is only the first step. If this film moves you, turn those feelings into action. Talk with your family about secure firearm storage, share what you’ve learned, support organizations working to prevent gun violence, and join our Be SMART team to help educate others on responsible firearm storage and prevent tragedies before they happen.
