Moms Demand Action - OR Oregon Moms Demand Action brings together survivors, parents, and community advocates to fight for a future free from gun violence.

This is a volunteer-led page. Moms Demand Action is a grassroots movement of Americans fighting for public safety measures that can protect people from gun violence. We pass stronger gun laws and work to close the loopholes that jeopardize the safety of our families. We also work in our own communities and with business leaders to encourage a culture of responsible gun ownership. We know that gun violence is preventable, and we’re committed to doing what it takes to keep families safe. We were founded by Shannon Watts, a mother of five. The day after the Sandy Hook tragedy, Shannon started a Facebook group with the message that all Americans can and should do more to reduce gun violence. The online conversation turned into a movement of moms, dads, students, families, concerned citizens and survivors working together with our partners in the gun violence prevention movement to end this uniquely American crisis.

It’s okay to not be okay. It’s okay to ask for help. And it’s okay to remind the people we love that they don’t have to carry the hard things alone.

Oregon’s elections are coming up fast, and we’re kicking things off together. Join us TOMORROW Thursday, Sept 10 at 7:00 PM on Zoom for our Elections Kickoff Call with special guest Angela Ferrell-Zabala , Executive Director of Moms Demand Action .

We’ll walk through what our volunteers will be doing between now and Election Day, and how you can plug in- whether you’ve got one hour a week or fifteen minutes.

Three generations of one family, and two friends who drove out to check on them. All five killed last weekend on a rural property outside Forest Grove.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office said this week that the killings began as domestic violence.
A handgun is what made them irreversible.

This is the pattern we see over and over in Oregon. Abuse escalates. A gun is in the house. What might have been survivable becomes a funeral for five.

The warning signs in this case never reached a courthouse. They reached family and friends — which is almost always where they land first. If someone you love is describing fear, control, or threats, take it seriously.

Summer is one of the hardest times of year for our blood supply. During the 100 deadliest days between Memorial Day and Labor Day, donations tend to drop as vacations and travel pick up, while hospitals see an increase in traumas and emergencies.

That’s why Moms Demand Action Oregon is hosting a virtual statewide blood drive through September 7! ❤️
