Executives director Kat DiVittorio was intensely grateful to be invited to this discussion by Arc Erie County. The adult autism community is a severely neglected, often misunderstood community, and being able to connect and be part of the conversation is paramount.

On this World Autism Acceptance Day, we at the DiVittorio Center for Autism invite you to reflect on what acceptance truly means across the entire spectrum, regardless of age, ability, or circumstance. We live in a world divided in so many ways, and there are many occasions we see this even within the autism community. Let today serve as an anchor for us all, together, to work toward strengthening our understanding, being resilient in our advocacy, and truly working toward inclusion of all those across the autism spectrum.
Happy World Autism Acceptance Day, and may we move forward to be more accepting every day.

While we know many of you are celebrating St. Patrick's Day, today also marks and important date for so many people across the world: Profound Autism Day! Please take a minute as you fill your day with thoughts of luck, green and celebration to reflect on the importance of inclusion, understanding, and meaningful support. The truth is, awareness goes beyond recognition; awareness means action, real compassion and commitment to making sure we are creating a world where every individual has a chance to thrive, be valued and receive real, meaningful support.
We at the DiVittorio Center for Autism are celebrating all the families and individuals with profound autism not just today, but every day, and we hope you'll join us!

I'm really excited to share what our friends over at Shriners Children's Erie are doing! Their barrier-free orthotic and prosthetic clinicians are now able to take community referrals, and they make the process to receive these devices as seamless as possible! We especially love the availability for padded helmets for those who have a tendency to bang or smack their head, supramalleolar orthoses for ankle stability, and ankle-foot orthoses for walking support that we see in so many kiddos on the spectrum, but the Shriners Children's Erie can really help out with any pediatric orthotic and prosthetic services needed in the community, and like the DiVittorio Center for Autism, they do this while removing any significant barriers families may face. Please, if you need any support in this regard, reach out to them or to me to connect you with the right person!
