President Obama was encouraged and even pressured by Latina(o) groups across this nation to bring relief to undocumented immigrants in this country. We must acknowledge and accept that there are an estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants in this country who pay sales tax, and who are exploited by some who are making substantial profits on immigrants' back-breaking labor. It is unrealistic to think that the U.S. has the capacity and the means to send 11 million people back to their native countries. Many have been here for a decade or more, and our country has reaped substantially from their contributions to the economy, labor and culture. We must move forward in this country and squash antiquated institutionalized systemic intolerance by the few who think they are at the pulse of America. The pulse of America is with the people who are silenced and live in the shadows of freedom and those of us whose cries are ignored. President Obama had the courage to stand for right when he issued this immigration order. The ones who oppose it are fearful, ignorant, selfish, arrogant, playing partisan politics and destroying the fabric of our country. They are cutting funds for higher education financial aid, for the poor and for our elders. Our soon-to-be Texas Governor Greg Abbot is suing the President Obama for this action which means that Texas favors denying Texas citizens the right to have their parents stay with them for at least 3 years. That is all this order does.Through his actions, Greg Abbot is denying at over 200,000 Texas citizens their birth right. He is destroying the family unit in Texas.
