Several members of the University of Miami Hurricanes football team were honored in the postseason for their academic achievements, including CSC Academic All-America honors for December graduate of the MALS program, Akheem Mesidor! Mesidor is currently participating in the NFL Combine in preparation for the NFL Draft in April.

Last week the of Miami Frost Institute for Data Science & Computing hosted Computing Day! Every year we get to celebrate this event featuring incredible research done by students and faculty - and some student-faculty teams - using data science. Dr. Mistunori Ogihara, Director of the MS in Data Science program, also present research from his team! 💻

Sofia Bond is a dedicated environmental advocate and graduate student pursuing her Master of Professional Science in Urban Sustainability and Resilience! 🌎

"My undergraduate years at UM weren't just about academic growth—they introduced me to my closest friends and kindled my passion for environmental stewardship. What continues to drive me forward is my involvement in this community, where I meet people of all ages that care about the environment and just want to make the world a better, more sustainable place. I wouldn't be where I am today without the University of Miami."

A true Miamian, her deep connection to the local ecosystem has fueled her lifelong passion for environmental protection. She graduated from in 2023 with a B.S. in Marine Affairs and minors in Sustainable Business and Ecosystem Science and Policy. Sofia has worked at for five years, providing her with valuable hands-on experience in water resource protection and environmental advocacy. You can also find her doing research as an assistant with Prof. Sarbeswar Praharaj and Prof. Shouraseni Sen Roy at the Department of Geography & Sustainable Development working on a National Science Foundation-funded project “Simulating Coastal Adaptation and Local Exposure for Enhanced Resilience”.
