We want to invite our community to get involved as a volunteer with the Cookeville Community Cares Warming Shelter.

The Cookeville Community Cares Emergency Shelter operates during extreme weather. The shelter is a project organized by Cookeville Community Cares and provides critical support for those in need.

How it Works: Volunteers are only called if temperatures drop below 32°F on their scheduled day. After signing up, you’ll receive an email with a Registration Form.

Whether we get snow, ice, or nothing, it's going to be dangerously cold for an extended period.

This is going to be very taxing on our limited resources at the Emergency Warming Shelter we operate at 502 Gould Drive. We will be sheltering and feeding around 50 guests 24/7 until the cold spell breaks.

A critical need is for additional volunteers to help around the shelter. We have volunteer shifts open both day and night. More overnight volunteers will allow us to shelter more people. There is a link to our volunteer signup on this page.

If any churches or restaurants would like to commit to providing one meal on a particular day for around 50 people during this cold spell, that would be an incredible blessing. Please reach out to us to coordinate the meal if this is an option for you.

Things we could use right now include:
Prayers
Cases of water and other drinks.
Soup, chili, stews, chicken and dumplings
Lasagna, casseroles, pasta dishes, pizza

I was thinking about how quickly AI is changing and how hard it can be to know where to start. This blog from November still rings true today. AI is moving fast, but it can actually make business simpler. Message me if you want help saving time and cutting through the noise.

Why the Skeptics Usually Get the Most Out of AI Training

Here's something I've noticed running workshops at Biz Foundry: the folks who show up skeptical often leave the most excited.

Makes sense when you think about it.

Imagine someone who runs an HVAC company or a small retail shop. They're wearing five hats. Working long weeks. Still behind on emails and customer follow-ups. They've heard about AI but figured it's for tech companies, not them.

Then they sit down and realize they can draft customer emails in 30 seconds. Respond to that annoying Google review without agonizing over it. Get ideas for social posts without staring at a blank screen.

Suddenly AI isn't some abstract technology. It's just... help. The kind of help they've needed but couldn't afford to hire.

That's what excites me about bringing AI training to rural Tennessee. Big companies have entire marketing departments. Small businesses have one person doing everything. AI levels that playing field a little.

The biggest barrier isn't the technology. It's just getting started. Once people try it with someone walking them through the basics, the lightbulb goes on.
