The dopamine from a great session you and your student didn’t know you needed but man was it exactly the way to spend a Thursday night.
This kid is smart and quick. She’s taught me a few ways to see math procedures and I have been genuinely impressed with her for awhile. School year sessions were often filled with anxiety and stress and doubt since the academic year wasn’t her favorite for various reasons. Summer? She did 60+ questions in less than an hour and asked for the challenge!
The difference in cognitive space between the pressure of an academic year and the pace of summer season is so dramatic for some brains. Please consider summer tutoring if only to help secure some confidence and grounding for your child before the stress of the academic year.
Reach out to me. If I don’t have an opportunity, I know other tutors who have their own expertise and passions too. Do your kid the favor and let us help build them up.
Oh and here’s Panda enjoying her summer too. 🤓

In the season of SAT, ACT and college entrance exam testing time, please remember that it is more common that scores vary, multiple shots have to be shot, your score doesn’t change as much as you’d hoped and the strength is in the try, try again. You’ve got this. Your efforts and discipline still count and still gave you growth and value. A test is a snapshot not the whole story and not every photo captures the ideal moment. It’s cheesy but it’s true y’all!
Working moms get it. We support each other and each other’s children. New age community looks different than before but village isn’t gone so as long we don’t give up on it. Embrace the connections and raise your littles all while building the dream side by side too. 🙌💻🍎☕️
Education is not just about material. It is also about modeling and giving space for young teens to advocate, communicate and take charge for themselves and their goals. Be that safe space for them to practice while learning math too!
Virtual and in person summer sessions all summer day slots. Virtual evening and weekend!

Sessions at The Sherwood Academy this week off to a great start with my new students! This family chose to split their time between two children and it worked great. I love creating custom content and I always like to ask what students’ hobbies and interests are prior to starting. It gives me the opportunity to pull stuff that not only works. The skills were after, but also keeps them excited. Plus, kids love knowing things were made just for them.
While it’s only June, the summer will go by quickly. Book a few sessions to keep their brains firing and we can make sure they’re prepared for that first quarter of next year.
Homeschool kids need support too. If your child is doing online programming, but needs someone to hold them accountable, fill in the gaps or help pace out the course, tutoring could be a resource you need.

Playdo, sand, chalk, beads, whatever you can think of. At the pre-kindergarten and transitional kindergarten level so much of what they need to do is just get used to exposure and interacting with the letters and their sounds. I am planning a race car set for Monday for one of my students. He noticed in the classroom I was working in that there was a track, but the cars were dead. So sad that batteries die. But I’ve got his back. Monday we are going to create opportunities for cars and playing with racecar tracks while incorporating sounds and recognition.
All summer long we can spend time together and tutoring does not have to be boring. There are so many creative ways for us to explore what your child needs to get ready for next year.
