Take a makeup application class, for example. When you follow your interests at DVS, you aren't just learning how to apply cosmetics. You're practicing fine motor skills, exploring artistic design, and discovering the joy of learning for learning's sake. That’s the beauty of self-directed education. 🌟

At DVS, getting lost in a good book or taking a moment to relax on the couch isn't a break from learning—it is the learning. When students are free to direct their own time, they develop one of life's most vital skills: knowing how to listen to their bodies.

Whether it’s finding a quiet corner to decompress or recognizing when they just need a breather, our students are trusted and encouraged to take care of their own needs. We believe that self-care and self-regulation shouldn't be skills you have to wait until adulthood to practice. By giving kids the freedom to pause, we empower them to build healthy habits that last a lifetime. 🌱✨

One of the best parts of the Sudbury model is seeing how quickly students find their rhythm, take ownership of their time, and dive into their passions. Our newest community member is already fitting right in and making her mark—she has been busy creating some fun portraits of our staff members! 🎨🖌️

It is always so wonderful to see students sharing their unique talents and bringing fresh, creative energy to the campus. We love seeing the world through her eyes and can't wait to see what she chooses to explore next.
