Eco-Conscious Housewares & Local Workshops Welcome to My Lovely Muse! My name is Christina, and I've been sewing for myself and my family since 2011.

In 2015, I started researching what it would take to start my own business. I enjoyed sewing for my family so much, that I wanted to share my love for making handmade items with others as well! I started the process toward starting My Lovely Muse in 2016 and finally opened my shop in January 2017! I'm so happy to be here to provide handmade items made with love for yourselves and your loved ones!

It's ✨ Hibernation Season ✨ and it feels like it with this cold and snow we're having in Michigan! I plan on taking it slow and easy for the next few months. In fact, I bought a couple face cords of wood and have been having a daily fire in my fireplace, snuggling up with a book and my dog and watching the snow fall and the fire crackle while relaxing. (See photo of my sweet we**ie dog Finley laying on his heated blanket while roasting in front of the fireplace 😍).

There will be some classes and of course monthly mending circle (January marked 2 years of monthly mending circles at the Georgetown Township Public Library!) before markets start back up in May. Of course, the website is always available for you to make purchases (maybe some supplies to do some winter beeswax wrap making???) and to check out upcoming events.

Let me know how you're planning on slowing down and relaxing during these cold, dark months, even if it isn't a full blown hibernation. 😴

I’m looking forward to being in Saugatuck again for this winter market! I won’t have my sewing machine (my crafty fingers will freeze in the cold!!!) but I’ll be stocked up with lots of other things!

What are you looking forward to finding at this market? 🤔

October has generally been the nice reprieve between nonstop summer season and the busy holiday rush. I feel like I have indulged a bit, but really I just did a fabulous job of taking care of myself. I went on my annual sewing retreat with my fabulous mother-in-law in September, then did my FIRST EVER backpacking camping weekend via a women's retreat where I met many beautiful souls. Spending time in nature (sans kids) was nourishing and so restorative. Finally I went to Mackinac Island to learn more about garment construction for a week with Kinship Handwork and received the magic and inspiration I needed to take me through the end of 2025.

MARKETS: November's lineup is FULL, but it will be fun. ❤ Mark these on your calendar people, because we are supporting SMALL and LOCAL this year!!! (forget BIG BOX and BILLIONAIRE) First is Blandford Nature Center 's Fall Nature Maker's Market with the most amazing curation of small businesses who love nature! Then the next day I'll be at Pierce Cedar Creek Institute in Hastings with my former student and most talented artist Astounding Illustrations! Of course we will wrap up this month's markets with Christmas Through Lowell Site 22 at the Christian Life Center both days.

MENDING: Mending circle will run as normal on the third Wednesday of the month at Georgetown Township Public Library from 6:30-7:30pm. Bring your mends and I'll bring the supplies! I will not have my sewing machine with me at any other market this month, but if you need some help, reach out and we can chat about availability!

WORKSHOPS: November 20 is our last FREE beeswax wrap workshop through Kent District Library this Fall at Spencer Township KDL in Gowen, MI. If you know me, you know how much I love to sew with my sergers! I've been teaching a beginner serger class at Seams Sewing and Mercantile in Kalamazoo and this one should be great too! Make sure you sign up on their website because spaces are limited!

Hope to see you this month! I'm grateful for you all!

I've been teaching my beeswax wrap workshops at different Kent District Library branches this Fall and earlier last month, we had a meeting of creative minds! Alicia Fuller, Art Teacher and one half of the creative mastermind sister duo at Sisters Core Art, attended the workshop and added her ✨ FANTASTICAL ✨ art to the beeswax wraps that she made! If you've attended any of my workshops, you know that I think it is important to try new things! So we decided that drawing with sharpie marker on fabric then coating it with beeswax solution would not cause any issues, so voila! A totally custom beeswax wrap with original artwork on it! How beautiful! I am constantly amazed at the creativity I encounter through teaching.

We have one more FREE beeswax wrap workshop at Spencer Township KDL on November 20 at 6:30pm if you're interested in attending! Otherwise, any new workshops and events will be added to the "Event" tab on our website!

This month is a lot lighter on the schedule than this summer and I'm ready for a bit of a break. I've been working on slowly easing myself out of a busy summer schedule so I can start looking forward to my hibernation months.

NOTE: This month our monthly Mending Circle at Georgetown Township Public Library will be on the second Wednesday of the month in one week. This month I'll be on my annual sewing retreat on Mackinac Island on the third Wednesday of the month. In November, we will be back to meeting on the third Wednesday of the month for Mending Circle.

September Events are here! We are wrapping up summer market season (NOOOOOooooooo!!!!!) and have a new Fall KDL series getting started - Beeswax Wrap Workshops! I've also started teaching classes at Seams Sewing and Mercantile in Kalamazoo if you have a serger and want to actually use it! (I stinkin' love sergers! I own 6 myself 😬). And of course, our September Mending Circle at Georgetown Township Public Library.

Even though we are approaching hibernation season, it does not feel like I'm slowing down much, personally. We are in the midst of canning season and I am busy preserving the harvest! Last week I canned nearly 10 bushels of tomatoes and have more to go! I have a sewing retreat planned for September and October and a women's retreat backwoods camping at the end of September, so I have carved some time out to slow myself down. This is an ongoing practice, slowing down. How do you balance spending time in the present and getting carried away with life pulling you in all directions?

First Market of the season today! I'm at the Saugatuck Center for the Arts until 3pm today all setup and ready to go! It's chilly, but beautiful, blue skies and sun! I've got my sewing machine set up for some mending and I'm working on a sashiko mend while I enjoy the day! Hope to see you this summer!
