We are ready to welcome our incoming Freshmen this Friday for Freshmen Orientation! Members of the Class of 2030 will get familiar with the CHS campus and meet staff while gaining valuable information to prepare them for entering high school followed by lunch provided by CHS ASB.

Please help us welcome Mr. Bradbury as our new Physical Education teacher at CHS!

A proud 2021 graduate of Colusa High School, Mr. Bradbury recently earned his degree from Texas A&M University–Victoria, where he was also a student-athlete, graduating in 2025. He is excited to return to the school that had such a positive impact on his life and looks forward to supporting and inspiring the current students of CHS.

Outside the classroom, Mr. Bradbury enjoys spending time outdoors. Whether he's fishing, golfing, or playing sports, he loves staying active and being involved in athletics.

Mr. Bradbury is excited to join the Colusa High School staff and is committed to making a positive impact on students that will extend well beyond their time at CHS.

We are thrilled to welcome Mr. O'Neal to Colusa High School to teach Chemistry and Physical Science!

Mr. O’Neal graduated from Dakota State University in 2022 with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Education. He also graduated from Shasta College in 2019 with an Associates Degree in Social Sciences. In college, he had the opportunity to play college baseball and had the time of his life! Over the past three years, he taught at Sutter Union High School, which is also his alma mater. He is extremely excited about working with the community of Colusa and all the great students.

He’s extremely passionate about sports and coaching. In his free time, he enjoys watching the San Francisco Giants in addition to trying new coffee shops, listening to all kinds of music, and traveling with his fiancé.

Hello! My name is Heather Wilson-Jensen, and I am pleased to be able to serve the students, families, and staff of Colusa Unified School District as your School Nurse. I look forward to getting to know all our students and families throughout the school year! I can be found primarily at James M. Burchfield Primary School and am working with all the schools in the district.

I am excited to bring my passion for learning and teaching, my experience working with children and families in both hospital and community settings, and my commitment to empowering families to CUSD. When I am not working I am a voracious reader who loves to be with family, spend time outdoors, and learn new hobbies. My husband and I have two children Max & Ruby (and no, we did not mean to name them after the cartoon bunnies!), two cats (Frankie & Giraffe) and a dog (Cleo).

I believe that by working together, we can create a supportive environment where every child’s health, safety, and well-being are prioritized to give them the best opportunity to thrive in school and beyond. I am grateful to be part of our community as your School Nurse and look forward to partnering with you to support our students!

Please welcome Nikole McElwain back to Colusa High School to serve as Assistant Principal.

Having previously taught at CHS for seven years before moving into administration at Egling Middle School, this community has played an important role in her professional growth, and she values the opportunity to continue supporting Colusa students and families.

Mrs. McElwain believes high school is a pivotal time where students benefit from both strong relationships and clear, consistent expectations. When students feel supported and understand what is expected of them, they are better positioned to succeed both academically and personally. She believes in addressing challenges directly while also working to build systems that prevent them from recurring.

She looks forward to working alongside Mr. Giovannoni and the rest of the CHS staff to build on the strong foundation already in place and continue creating a positive, supportive environment for all students.

Hello, Colusa High School community!

My name is Rick Giovannoni, and I am truly honored to join Colusa High School as your new principal. After spending the past 12 years as assistant principal, Director of Student Services and principal at Sutter Union High School, I am excited for this new chapter and grateful for the opportunity to become part of the Colusa community.

Throughout my career, I have believed that schools are strongest when students, families, staff and the community work together. I look forward to building relationships, supporting our students as they grow academically and personally, and celebrating the many traditions and accomplishments that make Colusa High School such a special place.

My family and I are excited to be here, and I can’t wait to meet all of you as we begin a great school year together. Go RedHawks!

Congratulations to one of our amazing students for earning 3rd place in the GCSE Environmentors International Science Fair! This competition challenged students to tackle real-world environmental problems, and we could not be more proud of the hard work and dedication shown. Way to represent CHS!
