According to Phocuswright Research, nearly 4 in 10 U.S. travelers used generative AI when researching their trips in 2025.

More travelers are now turning to AI for recommendations, which makes it increasingly important to understand how these tools decide what to surface and how to optimize for visibility.

The good news is it’s still early. Operators who start paying attention now have an opportunity to get ahead as this way of discovering stays continues to grow.

In my latest newsletter, I break down what’s changing, why it matters, and what you can start doing today.

P.S: many of these, you might already be doing. Just need to be more intentional going forward.

Your property may be an asset, but your product is hospitality. ✨

As operators, it’s easy to think of ourselves as being in the property business. Managing turnover, fixing what’s broken, making sure the home is ready.

But that’s just part of it.

We’re in the business of designing experiences.

And those experiences are what guests are truly paying for.

Too often we think we are selling a space. In reality, we are selling how that space promises to make a guest feel.

In a crowded market where listings can look similar, the guest experience becomes your strongest differentiator.

This article explores why operators should treat the experience as the product and how small, intentional touches can drive trust, repeat bookings, and brand loyalty.

Human connection is what hospitality is built on and the holidays make it more visible.

People carve out time, travel long distances, and seek out spaces where they can finally be present with each other.

As operators, you create the conditions for that to happen. The comfort, the ease, the space to slow down.

It's quiet work. But it matters more than most people realize.

The holidays are when most people finally slow down.

But for vacation rental operators, it's when things speed up.

Tighter turnarounds, higher stakes, and the knowledge that guests are counting on this trip to be special.

This work often goes unnoticed. But the impact is anything but invisible.

In this article, we explore:
→ Why holiday stays carry more emotional weight than any other trip
→ What the research says about vacation time and wellbeing
→ How operators enable human connection without always realizing it

To the holiday heroes keeping the lights on and the stays seamless: we see you. 🫶

The holidays are when most people finally slow down.

But for vacation rental operators, it's when we ramp up.

While guests are unwinding with family, we’re coordinating arrivals, troubleshooting issues, and making sure every detail is just right. The work is often invisible, but the impact isn't.

We’re enabling something deeper than a stay. We’re creating the conditions for people to reconnect, reset, and carry those moments into the new year.

That's the part I hold onto when the work feels heavy, knowing that behind every great holiday memory, there's an operator who made space for it to happen.

From one operator to another: thank you for all that you do.

You're a holiday hero. And the industry wouldn't be what it is without you. 🫶

For a long time, automation felt like the opposite of hospitality: robotic, impersonal, cold.

But that's changing.

Today, automation and personalization can actually create a stronger sense of connection with guests.

Here's why:

Great hospitality = knowing your guest + right message + right time.

Technology makes all three easier:
→ Know who your guests are through smart automation
→ Personalize communication based on what you know
→ Deliver it consistently at scale

What used to take hours of manual effort can now happen consistently, across every guest, every stay.

Automation handles the repetitive work so your team can focus on the moments that actually need a human touch.

The holidays are the busiest stretch of the year for most operators — high occupancy, tight timelines, and heightened guest expectations.

But this same season also creates one of the biggest opportunities for repeat stays. Guests remember how their holiday felt, and the small moments of clarity or ease we provide often become the reason they return.

This article explores why holiday stays hold so much weight and how the invisible details behind a smooth experience can turn a single stay into next year’s rebooking.

If you’re thinking about how to turn holiday demand into lasting loyalty, this one’s worth a read.

💭As a vacation rental operator, I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about what makes a property stand out.

The design details, the upgraded finishes, the photos that pop — we invest a lot of energy into getting those right.

And they do matter. But only up to a point.

In a market full of beautiful homes, aesthetics level the playing field.

What actually sets us apart is the experience we create around the stay.

That part is harder to photograph. But it’s what turns a one-time guest into a repeat one.

The beautiful home gets guests through the door. But the experience is what makes them come back and tell their friends.
