Students on the four week program choose to enroll in one of two courses in the College of Arts and Sciences’ Department of Geography or the College of Nursing, where they examine the geography of the European Union and the sustainability challenges that accompany them.

“This experience has taught me how independent I am. Being here has required me to rely on myself every day as I navigate a new schedule, new responsibilities and unfamiliar challenges. Most importantly, my usual support system is 5,000 miles away, which has pushed me to become that source of stability for myself,” reflected Lilly Barton, a finance major who is abroad on the ISI Florence Summer Session program 🇮🇹

“As project manager, I strengthened my leadership skills and my ability to stay organized while working toward a common goal with a team. Patrick Louchouarn hopes to build collaborative networks to deepen Ohio State’s engagement with French institutions through his 2026-2027 Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program International Education Administrator (IEA) award to France.
Senior Vice Provost for Leadership and External Engagement, Louchouarn will join other senior leaders for a two-week seminar in October designed to familiarize U.S. higher education administrators with France’s higher education and research system.
“My participation in the Fulbright IEA seminar directly advances our “Education for Citizenship 2035” strategic plan, specifically the goal to elevate our global academic brand and foster “Academic Excellence," Louchouarn explained. “This seminar provides a critical opportunity to expand our relationships and deepen our engagement with French institutions of higher education, in areas of known expertise for French research. By gaining first-hand knowledge of the French system and building networks of collaborators, I will be better positioned to align our strategic initiatives with compatible French institutional partners.”

Four graduate students and one alumna from The Ohio State University received Fulbright U.S. Student Program fellowships for 2026-2027 to conduct research abroad in diverse fields including entomology in Chile, anthropology in Poland, ethnographic family studies in Canada, genetic dermatology in South Africa, and cervical cancer screening in Brazil, with projects aimed at advancing scientific understanding and community health.
Graduate students Lucy Guarnieri, Ohio State - College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences, Lauren Hayden, Arts and Sciences at Ohio State, Esema Idemudia and Nishant Pradhan, Ohio State University College of Medicine and alumna Shanbrae McFarland all earned the prestigious fellowship.
