I am obsessed with this song because of this choreography

It’s a place where rain followed me for years. Today was no different.

I don’t know why I never look at the camera lens when I take selfies. It’s not intentional at all. This is one of those pet peeves where you won’t see me slipping.

The story behind this choreography is a long one, but I’ll keep it brief.

As I began thinking about my performance, I found myself unsure of what I should present to my audience. After being away from practice for some time, I returned with discipline—waking up at 4 a.m. each day to work on my Adavus and rebuild my physical strength.

When I approached my Guru, my master instructor, and requested him to choreograph a piece for me, he gently refused. Instead, he suggested a song he believed would suit me—and asked me to choreograph it myself. I was honestly petrified.

With only a month left until the presentation, doubt lingered. This composition had been beautifully choreographed and performed by the legendary Smt. Priyadarshini Govind, and I had not come across another version that resonated as deeply. I kept questioning myself: *Should I even attempt this? What if I fail?*

Then, just seven days before the presentation, something shifted. I realized there must be a reason why my Guru, Sri Ramkrishna Chattopadhyay, entrusted me with this challenge. I chose to trust his vision—and in doing so, began to trust myself.

I set out with humility: to follow in the footsteps of a legend, while also allowing space for my own voice and interpretation to emerge.

I bow my head in gratitude to my Guru, Sri Ramkrishna Chattopadhyay, and to Smt. Priyadarshini Govind, whose artistry continues to inspire this soulful presentation.

Sankara Srigiri, a thoughtfully and delicately crafted choreography of Guru Sri Khagendranath Barman. I had the privilege to learn this composition from Guru Sri Ramkrishna Chottopadhyaya.
