We were thrilled to recognize Brian Vereb and Kenda Davis as this year’s George Award recipients at our Fund the Need event last month. This honor is presented annually to volunteers who go above and beyond in their dedication to Columbus Montessori, and Kenda and Brian exemplify that commitment in every way.
Their time, energy, and generosity have made a meaningful and lasting impact on our students, families, and staff. We are deeply grateful for all they have done to support our school community and help it thrive!

At last month’s Fund the Need event, we were proud to recognize Bethanie Rhodes as the 2025–2026 Duan Cannon Excellence in Teaching Award recipient. This award recognizes educators with 10+ years of service who demonstrate a lasting dedication to Montessori education, strong relationships, and ongoing professional and personal growth - qualities Bethanie embodies so fully.
Bethanie’s commitment to her students and the meaningful impact she makes each day continue to inspire both students and staff across our community. Selected by a staff vote, this inaugural honor reflects the deep respect and appreciation she has earned from her colleagues.
Please join us in celebrating Bethanie and all she brings to Columbus Montessori each day!

We are so grateful to current caregivers, Jessica and Tyler, for donating their time, talents, and hard work to create beautiful additions still to the Infant/Toddler playground.
What makes this project even more special is that it began with Jessica, who saw a need and took the initiative to make it happen. Each year, Jessica and Tyler give back to their community in honor of their children’s birthdays, and this year’s project celebrates Aria turning four and Ravi turning one.
This is what makes Columbus Montessori so special: a community that comes together to make our school an even better place for children to learn, grow, and thrive.

In just the first two days, our elementary campers have already been on two amazing field trips as they explore this week’s theme: Community Helpers ❤️
Yesterday, they visited Bickford of Bexley Senior Living where they connected with residents and staff, created handmade cards and crafts, and learned more about serving and caring for their community. Today, campers explored the Central Ohio Fire Museum & Learning Center, toured a historic firehouse, learned important fire safety tips, met real firefighters and learned all about their impact on the community.
They’ve also been building friendships through games, sharing favorite summer activities, and beginning creative projects about what community workers mean to them. Looking forward to more fun and learning with this great group of campers! ☀️

Tomorrow kicks off the first day of Summer Camp '26 at Columbus Montessori! 😎
We are not only looking forward to welcoming everyone back but we are also excited to introduce a brand new part of our program this year - our Junior Counselors.
Throughout the summer, our Junior Counselors (incoming 7th and 8th graders) will mentor younger campers, assist with daily routines and transitions, support activities and projects, help lead games, and collaborate on a summer service project that gives back to our school community.
They recently gathered for their JC orientation lunch where they received their binders, reviewed expectations and responsibilities, and started preparing for the summer ahead.
We are excited to watch these students step into leadership roles, build confidence, and become an important part of camp life this summer. ☀
