Tickets are available on MyPaymentsPlus for the first ShawU Night at the Columbus RiverDragons game next Friday! Invite your family and friends to attend. Each person that purchases with your name counts for your grade level. The winning grade level wins a block party and tickets to an upcoming Shaw basketball game. Ticket sales will end on Wednesday (to provide time for the shirts to be made)! $15 includes ticket to game and a custom Shaw/RiverDragons shirt.

Shaw's Raider Academic Excellence group starts a fundraiser today. This fundraiser will help to support activities to recognize our students for academic success, academic growth and success on the Georgia Milestone Assessments. Shaw High School’s CTAE is excited to invite the community to its annual Trunk or Treat event. This family-friendly celebration promises an evening of fun for children, teens, and parents alike. The event will take place on October 30, 2024, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM in the front Shaw High School parking lot.

This event is open to all children up to age 12, who are encouraged to come dressed in their favorite costumes and ready to collect candy from the creatively decorated trunks of vehicles. Teens are also welcome to join the festivities, but an adult must accompany them unless they are volunteering with one of Shaw High’s Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) or the Mass Communication Magnet Program.

For our neurodivergent youth and their families, we are offering a special indoor activities area designed to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience. This area will feature sensory-friendly activities and a calmer environment for those who may benefit from it.

Aside from assisting each other on the winning team of the faculty vs. student basketball game, Coach Horton and Mr. Burke’s class have been having “Fun Friday” for the last few weeks! Their students have been receiving Raider Bucks for doing the right things inside and outside the classroom. The student get you use their “Money” to pay for stuff like pizza, doughnuts, ice cream, chips, candy, and Chick Fil A!!!! Great job to this duo of science co-teachers!

We are pleased to share with you that our collaborative college tour efforts are continuing for a third year. Rainey-McCullers School of the Arts, Shaw High School and Spencer High School will be joining together to provide students with college visit experiences. This is an invitation for our Juniors and Seniors (11th and 12th grade only) to participate in a visit to Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, Florida. The visit day is scheduled to happen November 15, 2024. Departure time is 5:30 AM. The cost for the trip is $75. The deadline for completion and submission is November 5, 2024 at 12:00 PM. Please be informed that ALL seniors traveling are required to apply to the university as a condition of travel. This is the case for seniors at all partnering schools and for each college visit.
