🚧 We were thrilled to partner with the Franklin County Engineer’s Office as part of the Renner Road project. Our students had the exciting opportunity to combine art, engineering, and community by creating original artwork that was transformed into colorful decals along the shared-use path in front of our school. One talented student even designed the construction sign featured at the project site!

🪏It has been so special for our students to see their ideas come to life in a real-world project that our families and community will enjoy for years to come. We are so proud of our students and special shout out to the Franklin County Engineer’s Office, who included us in this meaningful project!

🦺We are so proud of our 32 5th grade Safety Patrol members who were honored at the Safety Patrol Recognition Breakfast for their hard work and dedication throughout the school year! 🎉👏

✋Our Safety Patrol students play an important role in helping keep Horizon safe, organized, and welcoming each day. From assisting during arrival and dismissal to serving as positive role models for younger students, they demonstrate leadership, responsibility, teamwork, and kindness in all they do.

We are so proud of the 22 girls at Horizon who successfully completed the ROX Program this year! 💜

ROX (Ruling Our eXperiences) is a co-curricular program focused on the education, safety, health, and empowerment of girls. Over the course of this 20-week experience, our students grew in confidence, leadership, and resilience while building meaningful connections with one another.

Throughout the program, the girls explored important topics including:
✨ Team-building & healthy communication
✨ Cyber safety & social media
✨ Friendships & girl bullying
✨ Stress & pressure
✨ Personal safety & assertiveness
✨ Body image & the media
✨ Academic/career development & leadership

🥪 Lunch on the Lawn Reminder 🌞

🎉 We are excited to celebrate the last day of school with our annual Lunch on the Lawn event for our 1st-5th grade students and families! Come eat lunch with your child and their class to celebrate the end of the year!

📅 Friday, May 29th
📍 Horizon Elementary Playground & Green Space
(See provided maps in photos for specific grade level areas)

⏰ Event Times:
✨ 1st, 2nd, & 5th Grade: 11:30 AM-12:00 PM
✨ 3rd & 4th Grade: 12:30 PM-1:00 PM

🍎 Lunch Options:
Families may bring lunch for their child, pack a lunch from home, or purchase a lunch from school.
*Please be mindful when ordering lunch from an establishment around Horizon Elementary. In the past, many people have experienced much longer
wait times due to the volume of people trying to order from the nearby food locations. Students only have 30 minutes for their lunch*

🪑 Feel free to bring a blanket or lawn chairs to relax and enjoy lunch together outdoors!

✨ You may take your child home after Lunch on the Lawn. For the rest of the day, teachers will not have anything “special” planned, as students will be doing their fun activities earlier in the week

Logistics:
✨ Parking: We know that parking can be a challenge, so we invite families to walk or carpool if possible. Please do not park on the grass or along the roads as much as possible.
✨ Signing Out: Parents taking kids after LOTL will sign the child out on a sheet with the classroom teacher.
✨ Multiple children: If your family has multiple children, please either will pick one LOTL to attend or attend both. We will not be pulling students from their classroom to attend another grade level’s LOTL.

👏 5th Grade Clap Out Reminder 🎓

✨ Our Horizon 5th graders are getting ready for one final walk through the halls, and we would love for their families to help us cheer them on as they celebrate the end of their elementary school journey! 💙

📅 Friday, May 29th
🕚 5th graders will begin walking at 11:15 AM

🎉 Families are invited to form a cheering tunnel on the service road behind the playground, where the students will finish their final lap around Horizon.

Important reminders:
✨ This event honors current 5th graders. The rest of the school will be part of the clapping out in the hallways.
✨ No need to check in at the office! Simply walk around to the back of the school and join the family tunnel lines
✨ Parents are welcome to stay for Lunch on the Lawn with their 5th grader beginning at 11:30 AM
✨ Feel free to take your child with you when you leave!

👏 Let’s send our 5th graders off with lots of cheers, smiles, and celebration as they prepare for their next adventure! 💫

🎉 Kindergarten Celebration Reminders 🥳

We are so excited to celebrate our Kindergarten students on Friday, May 29! Our students have been working hard preparing some of their favorite Kindergarten songs, and we can’t wait to share this special moment with our families. 💛 Bring your tissues… some songs may tug at your heart!

📍 Both celebrations will take place in the school gym.

🕘 Mr. Geddis & Mrs. Sagraves’ classes:
Performance begins promptly at 9:15 AM and will conclude around 9:45 AM.

🕙 Mrs. Baker & Mrs. Jones’ classes:
Performance begins promptly at 10:15 AM and will conclude around 10:45 AM.

Important reminders:
✨ This event is for current Kindergartners
✨ Parents/guardians are welcome
✨ No need to sign in at the office: please go straight to the gym
✨ You may take your child home after the celebration. For the rest of the day, teachers will not have anything “special” planned, as Kindergarten will be doing their fun activities earlier in the week
✨ Staff members in the gym will help sign your child out (no office sign-out needed)
✨ Older siblings in grades 1-5 will not be permitted to attend due to space/timing
✨ Please exit the building promptly after your child’s celebration so we can clear the parking lot for the next event
✨ Parking lot access will begin at 9:00 AM. **Please be mindful of buses!
