High school students who performed welding engineering and advanced manufacturing research as part of summer internship programs with the Manufacturing and Materials Joining Innovation Center (Ma2JIC) and NSF Hybrid Autonomous Manufacturing, Moving from Evolution to Revolution (HAMMER) Engineering Research Center added new skills to their portfolio and a fresh perspective on their future.
From hands-on research with graduate students and faculty to seeing the impact of their work in a manufacturing setting, the experience exposed young scholars to unique engineering fields and promising careers in manufacturing.
Support from National Science Foundation (NSF), American Welding Society, and American Honda Motor Company, Inc. made these opportunities possible.
