This eight-week class offers a focused introduction to the acting process. Beginning actors work, stage, and shoot several film scenes during the eight-week session. We work in depth on concepts central to the actor's role development for film. We use Shurtleff's 12 Guideposts as our basic text to help students make strong choices with a wide variety of scenes and monologues. Your ability to make active, personal choices is essential for dynamic auditions and performances for stage and film.

Your final scenes will be filmed and screened at the Lennox 24 Movie Theatres. Your work will also be screen for area TALENT AGENCIES, CASTING DIRECTORS AND FILMMAKERS - you will also receive footage of your work.

You may be the best actor in the room. But if you don’t nail the audition, you won’t book the job, and no one will ever know what you’re capable of. Auditioning isn’t just luck.

In this 8-week intensive, you’ll learn the single most important thing you can do to convince a casting director to hire you. You’ll discover how to create a living, breathing, believable person that persuades casting directors that you are the character–and the right actor for the job.

​You will receive a new film audition each week. Some will be treated as Self-Taped Auditions to help you perfect your submissions.
​
In this class you will practice:
Breaking down “sides” and scripts to create a believable character
How to master callbacks and seal the deal
Taking risks and making strong choices
Taking redirection—and making it work for your performance

You will also have the opportunity to work on a one minute monologue.
