The Zones of Regulation help children learn how to recognize their emotions and how to regulate them. Using these practices at home is a great way to support your child's/children's emotional growth.

A brilliant A4 poster from the ever amazing Beacon House team to help remember (and educate others) about the three Rs of trauma informed work with children and young people, and the order in which work needs to occur:

* Regulate (feeling safe and being able to calm down)
* Relate (connecting with caring others)
* Reason (learning)

A visual to point to the next time you are pressured to focus on academics with a child who is working through emotional pain and distress that prevent their progress.

I dream of a world in which this is posted in every school administrator's office - alone I can't but together we can! Please share widely 🙏

Today was historic and with tears in my eyes, I smiled from ear to ear as I watched Madam Vice President Kamal Harris take her oath of office. This is a small reflection of the role I believe education plays as we move forward to a united country.
