Columbus Conference for Jewish Women to be held November 20
“The Columbus Conference for Jewish Women is back – live, in-person, and better than ever,” announced Kelsey Berman, Host Committee Chair for the November 20, 2022, event. “This year’s theme is ‘Imperfect is the New Perfect,’ and we invite all Jewish women in the central Ohio area to join us at the Columbus Museum of Art for a fulfilling and entertaining Sunday morning of personal exploration and sisterhood.”
“The theme –- ‘Imperfect is the New Perfect’ -- allows us to examine our mistaken quest for perfection in every area of our lives,” Berman explained. “With tips from a dynamic keynote speaker and a choice from among four interactive workshop experiences, we will challenge the idea that all the details of one’s life must be immaculately aligned for one to be happy. Rather, we may discover that happiness is a choice, and one we can make anew every day,” she added.
Keynote speaker for the Conference is Yaffa Palti, an internationally known lecturer famed for the depth and humor of her presentations. With stints living and teaching in Brooklyn, Israel, Mexico City, San Diego and currently Miami, Palti has spoken at self-improvement retreats for literally thousands of women across the globe. A trained educator, life and relationship coach and certified addiction and substance abuse counselor, Palti was raised in a Torah-observant home where the values of kindness and doing for others were emphasized.
“Yaffa is so charismatic and relatable,” Berman said, “I am sure that in her warm way, she will inspire us to be vulnerable and accept ourselves as we are. I personally am looking forward to hearing her keynote address.”
In addition to enjoying breakfast as well as a delicious buffet luncheon created by Chani Capland/Catering by Chani while hearing Palti speak, conference participants will choose one of four breakout workshops to attend that morning. The workshops include: “The Keys to Connection: Explore the 5 Areas of an Intimate Relationship,” with mental health professional Rivke Gardner; “The Joy of Authenticity,” a Jewish text-based exploration of tools for approaching life authentically with Jewish educator and author, Ruchi Koval; “Soulstir,” a movement workshop created to awaken the soul, led by dance innovator Shelly Dembe; and “Imperfect is Beauty,” facilitated by visual artist Dalia Koppes, in which participants will hear Dalia’s story of personal discovery and expression through art, and will each create her own canvas to take home. All attendees are invited to remain at the museum after the conference to view its collection of works by Jewish artists and others.
“Give yourself the present of a morning off to attend the Columbus Conference for Jewish Women,” urged Committee chair Berman. “It’s for all women regardless of age, religious affiliation, or level of observance. It truly is an inspiring morning just for women to network, socialize, learn, reflect, and focus on our relationships with family, friends, professional peers, and G-d.”
The Columbus Conference for Jewish Women takes place from 9:30-1PM Sunday morning, November 20, 2022, at the Columbus Museum of Art, 480 East Broad Street, Columbus, OH 43215.
