Oh my heart... My. Whole. Heart.
This is EVERYTHING, everything we were, we are, and we will always be – a mother and her children. Two unique and wondrous human beings with whom I’ve been blessed to raise. When I look at this photo, I see a mother’s exhaustion, sacrifice, and choices all wrapped up in unconditional love. The kind that was simply incomprehensible until they came into my life. I see years of buckling carseats, telling bedtime stories like the crazy adventures of Monkey Boy (my original imaginary story) and simply choosing them, even when I wanted to choose me.
Truth is... I am holding back tears remembering us this way. It’s December 2009. On an unseasonably warm winter evening, I can smell fresh pine needles from the Christmas tree lot mixed with their sweet toddler breath. You know, the breath that is a magical mixture of cotton candy and apple juice. I can hear their giggles skipping in the air and swirling around me. This is the sound I imagine at a comedy show that angels have put on for each other. This is us. In this moment, we could not get any closer to each other. I am the Mom and these are my monkeys. Once upon a time...
Today, these little humans are testing their independence as teenagers. Teenagers who roll their eyes at everything and wish they were anywhere else with anyone else other than their mother. Afterall, I am SO annoying. It became official in a family vote taken on last summer’s road trip.
Mom: Most Annoying in the Family
Dad: Most Dramatic in the Family
Kids: Conveniently didn’t earn either title
In the end, I am a mom and because of this my heart has been broken a million times AND love has literally burst from my chest a million more. I’ve been burdened by mom guilt and sacrificed self and ambition. A long time ago, I decided it was all worth it – I simply chose them, even when I wanted to choose me.
I love being their Mom.

Where to begin… After years of preparation, college visits, tough conversations, and the universe as our guide, Miles tackled the college application process like a champ!
Miles Paul Harris is a fun-loving and kind-hearted young man. Intellectually, he blends analytical thinking with creativity, a rare gift that allows him to be both logical and tap into his imagination with big-picture insight.
He is humble and driven, quietly excelling in the classroom while balancing sports and an active social life. Easygoing and kind, yet sharper than he lets on—Miles is ready to step into the next phase of life, lead, and make his mark.
I am BEYOND proud. Through hard work, he has prepared himself for this moment.
6 college applications later. 5 acceptance letters from Minnesota, Michigan State, Iowa, Iowa State, and The Ohio State. 4 merit scholarship offers. 1 choice.
On April 11, 2026, Miles made his decision. It’s Instagram official!
This Fall 2026, Miles Harris begins his college career at ! Go Buckeyes!

Happy (Belated) International Women’s Day!
From the archives...
X CHROMOSOMES
The female body, so exquisitely made, with its natural God-given curves
A masterpiece recreated for centuries in statues and paintings all over the world
We are constantly reminded to respect it and protect it
Without the female body, human life is simply nonexistent
Yet movies, music, and magazines continue to disrespect and objectify it
What shall we believe?
My X chromosomes and me
The female mind, intricately woven with intellect, compassion, and curiosity
Our sisters in the feminist movement fought for equality so our voices could be free
Today, generations later, brilliant women assemble in lecture halls at the finest universities
As breadwinners, we sit at the head of the family dinner table
Yet America continues to devalue our contributions and robs us of our equal pay
What shall we believe?
My X chromosomes and me
The female heart, vast and deep as the majestic oceans
We cradle a baby in one arm and hold a lover’s hand with the other
Unafraid to carry our hearts into the boardroom, we still make the tough decisions
As active community leaders, we boldly create a better world for the next generation
Yet society continues to declare our emotions are our weakness
What shall we believe?
My X chromosomes and me
Act like a lady, think like a man
Let your voice be heard, watch what you say
Love your body, lose some weight
Be independent, serve your man
My X chromosomes and me
We will
Be the next president
Stay home to raise happy children
Discover the cure for cancer
We will
Write a best-selling novel
Dance on the bar
Win an Olympic gold medal
We will...
My X chromosomes and me

A gasp
A whisper
A deep exhale
She unraveled the word, memory by memory, from the warm abyss of her heart. Using her mind as a guide, not the leader of deception. For it is her heart that harnesses the truth and shines brilliant light on the journey. She learns to reconstruct it for herself, her lover, and her children. The word is not dependent or lustful, it is tender and steady with the grace of an angel.
“Love is a slow dance under the stars.”
Happy Valentine’s Day! ❤️

❤️🩹 Ways To Support Immigrant Families In The Twin Cities ❤️🩹
To those closely involved in community support and volunteerism, please comment below by sharing links for ways people can actively engage in efforts around the Twin Cities.
We recognize that support and volunteerism looks different for everyone – actively organizing, connecting, providing financial support, donating goods, engaging in protest, sharing information, offering skills and talents. This can be done in public or private, near or far.
More options the better.
Thank you in advance to those who are sharing information and to those who are privately reaching out from all over the country asking for ways to help our community.

‼️ ANNOUNCEMENT ‼️
LAST Uncover Your Truth offering!
This is your LAST-ever opportunity to experience Lisa Harris & Company's Uncover Your Truth program.
The January 2026 cohort is intentionally designed for women who self-identify as being 'women in the middle' creating space for shared experiences and perspectives.
Uncover Your Truth is a guided, supportive program that helps you slow down, reflect, and step into a more empowered narrative—reconnecting with the woman who knows who she is and stands fully in her story.
Designed for life-long learners, this program offers a fresh, creative path to growth—empowering women to lead change in their work, families, and communities.
"Lisa guided a small cohort through the process of writing, rewriting, and publicly sharing our personal narratives. She listened deeply and offered thoughtful guidance that helped us find language that felt true and intentional. The experience was powerful and will stay with me for a long time."
Thank you, Sophia Khan for everything - these words, your trust, your vulnerability. I worked closely with Sophia on reflecting and rewriting her story. This work is very closely aligned with the work we do in UYT.
Join us in January 2026! LAST-ever opportunity to experience Lisa Harris & Company Uncover Your Truth program. Begins, Thu, 1/29 from 9–11AM. Still looking at other times, so reach-out if you are interested. There may be flexibility.

"Lisa's heart-led presence and passion created such a safe space for reflection. She helped guide me to see and name the limiting disbelief that had been driving so many of my behaviors, and then to rewrite with more Light. I hadn’t even realized how much I was doing this until I went through the rewriting process. Now, I celebrate each moment when I "notice" my renewed outlook. This awareness has allowed me to move through and beyond wounds that once kept me stuck.
I would recommend Lisa to anyone; individuals, leaders, or organizations, who are ready to grow beyond old narratives and embody more conscious, connected ways of being. She has a gift for seeing your highest potential and walking with you as you step into it."
Thank you, Joni Johnson-Peret for these beautiful words. I worked closely with Joni on reflecting and rewriting her story. This work is very closely aligned with the work we do in UYT.
Join us in January 2026! Next cohort won't be available until Fall...

Rooted in ancestral wisdom, our elder, Donna LaChapelle, reminded us that our gifts are meant to be shared.
On November 4, 2025, I was humbled and honored to share space with Dr. Jennifer A. Waltman, Shane Thin Elk, and Victoria Marie. Collectively, we facilitated an all-staff retreat for the Native American Community Clinic (NACC) at the Wilder Foundation. Grounded in the Medicine Wheel and the Seven Gifts of the Grandfathers, our intention was to strengthen organizational culture, staff wellness, and collective healing for +180 NACC team members.
Thank you to Dr. Jennifer A. Waltman, Lead Consultant at WorkWell Collective, for seeking my gifts as a part of this Indigenous facilitation team. Thank you to Dr. Antony Stately for your leadership and welcoming presence. I’m grateful for co-creating alongside my Indigenous relatives, strengthen community, and reconnecting with my ancestors through my work.
This experience has also reminded me of how narrative therapy and narrative coaching naturally align with our traditional Ojibwe values–– both center the power of story, connection, and relational healing. Together, they create a pathway for healing and growth rooted in respect, balance, and shared wisdom.
Miigwech!
