Want to start the day off right? Make sure your children eat BREAKFAST! :-) It's the most important meal of the day and it truly makes a difference. We teachers can tell those students who've had a good night rest and breakfast before they come to school ... and those who do not! Great gift to give to your kids everyday. XO

Is your child getting in trouble in school already? Check out Mrs. James' article with Columbus Parent Magazine! Great advice! http://www.columbusparent.com/content/stories/2009/09/28/092809.html

Here's a cool way to practice multiplication facts with your kids. Play WAR (the card game) but change the rules up a little bit. First take all of the face cards out. Then, instead of the player with the highest card taking the match, the first person to give the answer to the two cards multiplied gets the match. So if you have a 2 and your child has a 5, the first person to say "10!" wins. Give it a try! Kids love it! :-)

Once you've identified your children's reading level, (see assessment on previous post) find books that are just below their level to build confidence. Slowly ease them into books ON their level and move progressively to books above their level. This is one simple way to increase reading levels. :-) Enjoy!

Want to know what reading level your child is on? You don't have to wait for the school to tell you, go ahead and test them yourself! Check out this website for simple instructions on how to pinpoint your child's reading level! Takes less than 2 minutes ... Check it out!
