Changing my last name for the first time this school year… so bittersweet. My name has been my identity as a teacher for the last 7 years…. Going to be so odd answering to something else. Anyone else ever feel this way after they got married!??

BIG NEWS! Nate proposed and I said YES! 💍 We have been together for a little over 3 years, and have a son together who is 22 months old, named Kohen.

We read this AMAZING story called “Except When They Don’t” that talks about the assumptions/expectations as to what girls vs. boys like to do/play.
•We discussed how important it is to stay true to ourselves and to not let other’s opinions of us change what we like and don’t like.
•Swipe to see some more of the pages. I think this message really fosters the idea that we are all human, we all have emotions and things we enjoy, and that’s what makes us so special and unique. We always talk about how crucial it is to LOVE OURSELVES first and that’s how we keep the bullies at bay.
•I challenged the class to talk to/play with someone at recess of the opposite s*x and see if there are things they enjoy/have in common.

💖Kiddos were SO amazing and pleasantly surprised me when kiddos of all genders shared with the class the activities which they enjoy doing, that do not necessarily fit the gender norm. I could tell that this messaged really resonated with them and they were all nodding in agreement and sharing their opinions.

Excited to try out this Candy came Grab STEM activity from Scienceosfun on TPT!

The walls are still pretty bare and I’m really struggling with how cluttered and congested it looks since we have to have tables each kiddo and abide by 3ft apart.
Nonetheless, I have gotten nothing but compliments on my room! From students and teachers alike! It’s “magical,” “welcoming,” “inviting,” and “uplifting”
I taught from home all year last year so I wanted to really do it up with my room. I could not have done it with out my PIC, Nate. He is such a rock for me, emotionally, mentally,…. And it helps that he’s 6’4” so he can hang the stuff that goes up high 😂
So thrilled I got to bring this Boho Rainbow classroom to life! I’ll post more pictures throughout the year because this still feels bare to me🤪.
